Maybe they can trade Pouliot for a defenseman.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not, but I don't think moving a Pouliot for a dman should be overlooked. There are some teams that are stacked defensively, but need help up front. Trading Pouliot softens the blow of one of those teams moving a top four dman.

A Perron/Pouliot package could get a very nice return. It's highly unlikely Pouliot would be moved, but I just don't think it should be completely off the team. CGY, NSH and MIN would be good trading partners I think.

Clearly it's highly unlikely they move him. I just personally would not be closed off to it.

Do we need a Letang junior? Maybe not right now, but if they're smart with Pouliot's development and take it slow, he could come in at the right time.

I'm fine with that, especially if part of his job description is to work with the PPs during practice.

I just realized that Scuderi will be 37 in December.

I do not blame him for no longer being effective at that age. I do not blame him at.

Especially when you consider that his mobility was subpar during the best of days. I hold no ill will toward Scuderi... I just hate the contract he's got.

Unfortunately Shero gave him more term at a lower hit. If you want to remember the Pens were not the highest bidder for Scuderi

There isn't a GM in the league who would read that quote and be reassured that his potential interest in Scuderi is valid.

it's a small thing, but ...

a) nobody wants scuderi. there is nothing GMJR could say to convince anyone otherwise
b) maybe coddling your albatross to the press isn't the most effective motivator

but like i said, it's not a big deal. just not my favorite approach

re: Pouliot being Letang junior...I think that's really unfair to Letang. Tanger has become a amazing two way defenseman over the last few years. I don't think anyone expects Pouliot to become the defensive defenseman that Letang has turned into.

I actually think Letang has gotten considerable worse defensively over the past 2-3 years and is entering Mike Green territory. Most of his defensive coverage consists of catching up to the other team's forwards who are significantly closer to our goalie than he is.

But I can't honestly say that I know who Kris Letang is since I think I've been watching a different player entirely.

The last thing I want in the organization is more Letang. One is plenty. I'm weird though, I like defensemen to play defense. I'm not tearing down Letang, just saying that more than one at a time is too much.

Play defense like a Scuderi? I hope not.

Puck movers are valuable in the league today. Letang is valuable in that he brings both defense and offense. I don't think Pouliot is going to be another Letang, more like another Campbell once he's matured.

I don't think anyone would be against adding a Campbell type player to their team?

Oh, sorry, didn't mean to offend you. No need to talk down like we're not as good as you.

I just associated Scuderi as the first defense first guy on the team. Most other guys have some offensive ability and puck moving skills.

Sorry. Who would you like to see here? A defenseman in the mold of who?
