A few minutes ago on da FAN, Rutherford stated that they don't want to lose Sutter for nothing at the end of next year.
Read into that what you wish.

Just a single question... been super busy, has Kessel made any statement at all yet?

Yes. He prefers Primanti Bros over Five Guys but hasn't tried Burgatory yet so rankings TBD.

I want Kessel.
I'd like to point out that the deal was done only minutes after I posted this.

So ... I want Semin.
After reading that Francis burn about him, I don't want any part of Semin.

So... they have to do something at D right? Can't really be going into the season with Lovejoy or Scuderi in the top 4... right? Is this thing on? :scared:

I think they're going to sign Franson soon.

Letang, Maatta, Cole, Pouliot is your Top 4. So ... I guess they have to do something at D.

Wasn't Rutherford quotes saying he is standing pat with the defense? He mentioned erixon as a guy that could step in. And I think he also said he could explore trade deadline options but plans on riding with the current group up to the deadline.

The only way we sign a defenseman now is if Scuderi is moved and I doubt that happens

that's not a bad top 4. Really young, yeah, but all are competent guys who are all at the stage of their career where they become better players as they play each game

I don't think we need to make any more moves on either end really...

I'm fine with going into the season with this group and see how it goes.

My concern about going into the season with the roster in its current construction is that the assets no longer exist for the team to make a significant mid-season or trade deadline deal. Dumoulin is the sole survivor of the plethora of young defenseman, next year's first round draft pick is already gone, and I really don't think we want to get into the business of trading first round picks for future seasons. Any trade would have to be a true "hockey trade" and I don't think this team has the depth to make a hockey trade without opening up another hole in the roster (ie. trading Sutter rids the team of a damn good 3rd line center and a solid playoff performer).

Didn't realize it was that hard to understand what I was insinuating. Mattaa and Pouliot are rostered players and have been deemed all but untouchable by management, Morrow was dumped shortly after being drafted, Samuelsson was traded for Klinkhammer, Simon Orr for Lovejoy, Harrington for Kessel. The idea of young defenseman as trade assets is all but gone because the only one left that's not untouchable is Dumoulin and he should, hopefully, be a valuable part of the top six this season.. It's unlikely the Penguins will even have a half decent defensive prospect starting the season in WBS.

Ass.
