Minnesota doesn't pass us in the standings, so it's likely that our pick will be 14th overall and donated to San Jose.

I assume that's primarily based on this year being regarded as a weak class? As in 14 this year is still worth less than 32 next year... even with that extra development year?

Any worry about Sid not signing an extension?

Well, I'd likely give this pick away even if it was like 8th...

Look, outside of this being a bad draft class. There's just no good likelihood that we can better than this next year. On March 23rd, we were sitting at 8th overall. Sid set the mark for best season at age 36 in history. Just move on from the pick and get it over with.

Maybe we'll get fortunate and end up with 31 or 32 from Carolina - which I think has a fair degree of likelihood. I'm not sure the quality of player (and maybe it's the same player) at 14 would be much different than 31.

I don’t know enough about his past and I don’t think we’ve seen enough in Pittsburgh yet, but Dubas seems to always say the right things.

Reirden fired when?

Is it firing if you let his contract run out (it's up this year)

Ah, that's what I thought. I'd read elsewhere that "no coaching changes were expected" but I guess that just means Sully, who's extension hasn't kicked in yet.

Yeah I didn’t get “no coaches changes expected” from that at all. He did what a good boss is supposed to do, take responsibility. That doesn’t mean he won’t make any changes.

To that end, how different would the quality of player (and maybe it's the same player) be at 31 vs 44 (where the pick is now).

We'll have 44 and 46. The best outcome of getting to 31 might be the fact that we could potentially move up from there if needed

There will be changes. There's no need to fire Flat Stanley because his contract runs out anyway.

I like the fact that Dubas acknowledged Graves's play and called him out, but he claimed that he was a very good player for NJ and COL, which I believe to be stretching the truth a little. Graves was never that good and the huge contract he got surprised me. They have little choice but to go with him one more season, but I would look to add depth on defense because even as a #6, Graves would be a liability the way he played last season.

Nice of him to take the blame, but really it's probably like 80% hextall 10% Rutherford 10% him
