I wish him all the best, but this is exactly why I hate expansion.

It helps that he'd likely be gone regardless of expansion. Murray made him expendable, unfortunately.

Sid's award show is on ice, and not everyone is invited.

Why did it take a 2nd rounder to force them to take Fleury?

It took a second rounder to not put the pens in a tight spot and have to work big time magic to protect Murray.

If fleury waived the NMC in February then there was no need to work big time magic to protect Murray. The second was to make sure they took 29 and not rust, Cole, or Bonino even.

I know, but this helps me continue my dislike for Vegas, so I'm rolling with it.

Could you imagine? Caps fans would be lined up on the nearest bridge saying goodbye to their loved ones.

It's a pick in 2020. I can almost guarantee we'll

A) Get that specific pick back from them

2) Get another 2nd rounder via trade in the future

It's so far out that it's a relatively meaningless asset.

Award voting results for the Pens from last night:

Somebody explain to me how Rutherford came in 6th, and Sullivan 8th.

Not a 2nd round pick four drafts from now, OMG!

We made an unnecessary deal to trade up to get him and we made an unnecessary deal to help him continue his career as a starter. He put in 14 years, we got the value and then some...

Big whoop...good luck, Flower.

Rutherford did almost nothing except bring back the same team. Sullivan took a Stanley Cup winner with four star players and led them to a regular playoff spot...

Those awards are generally about improvement and/or noteworthiness...

I'll give you Rutherford, but that still doesn't make sense for Sullivan. This was an injury plagued season, and yet they finished with the second highest points total in team history. I'm not saying that he should have won it, but I don't see him being lower than 2nd.

Injury plagued for one of the star players...it just doesn't register on the traditional surface-level criteria for the award...which doesn't indicate that I agree with you or not, just answering your inquiry.

For me, there's no chance I would take Sully over Guy Boucher for instance...

Guy Boucher is likely who I'd have given it to, for the record.
