Sutter was a relative unknown when we traded for him just because he was young (24ish) and played for the Canes. Bonino was definitely not an unknown. I would be ok with trading Guentzel but only if we get a pretty penny in return. His value is very high right now
He was a high first round draft pick and a legacy guy. I'm not sure what was "relatively unknown" about him, seems like he was known as a low ceiling high floor guy.
I'm just speaking from the point of view of the average fan. I doubt the average fan could name the 3C on the Canes
Both Sutter and Bonino were like that. The majority of fans, not just average, didn't know much about either. The top reaction to Sutter was most likely "Is he one of THOSE Sutter's?" as opposed to knowing anything about him specifically. Bonino was probably not known at all in the east unless it was "Was he part of the Kensler trade?" The vast majority of non Carolina/Anaheim/Vancouver fans didn't know anything about either of those guys.

This is what I am getting at. I mean it's argumentative, but I would imagine everyone on here knows who's who. The random borderline fringe fan doesn't even know the entire pens roster let alone someone from another team.

I can''t get past the "Seriously Westcoast" thing and, thus, didn't watch it.

In a nutshell, but it's worth watching, IMO. Catchy as hell.

Is it an "ist" of some kind if i said that they both look like they would love a Bonino in the middle of the night?

To me, for it to be "bic" it would have to be either a fear of (obvious translation) or potentially against or dislike or such. Not necessarily stereotyping. You can stereotype and not be against something.

Jake is untouchable IMO. He's going to be a bona fide studmuffin in this league.

he will either be a stud muffin or will have his brains scrambled and will be unable to be in a room with lights turned on by the end of the year. there is no in between.

I question his ability to avoid being decapitated. We shall see.

Also, thanks joopen :thumb:
FWIW sales manager who grew up with GMJR is acting like this Kessel thing is a legit issue.

Gave him all the logical reasons its crazy and he's pretty firm that its a real thing. Like a real dislike between Phil and Geno and Tocchet was a key to keeping it together.

Hate being this guy but just passing the slow summer from a different perspective. Probably will turn out to be 150% wrong. Wont be the first time a car guy lied

You work with someone that grew up with GMJR in Canada? That's random.

I would be surprised if the Pens traded Kessel, but I would not be shocked. That said, I think the rumor is bunk.

Edit: Actually, I would be shocked. Back-to-back Cups, why make drastic - and needless - changes?

I called BS too til JR was in the showroom and confirmed said friendship. We are currently working him over to get the Cup in the showroom.

I could see a midseason trade of Kessel. It's pretty easy to see the team looking extremely flat and frustrated somewhere between December and February and needing a major spark. You can probably see the Penguins' window closing in 5-6 years, you have to make a play for the cup every season.

In the 5 cups the Pens have, there have been three major mid-season trades that propelled them to the championship with big names going other way (Cullen, Zalapski, Recchi, Whitney, etc)

kessel and neal (the pens version) are similar. the whole team can be playing like a pile of dogcrap. on a team of mere mortals, this means you ain't scoring. but guys like this - they are the rare breed that can score at any time against anyone. in a 0-0 game where we're getting handled but our goalie is saving the day or the other guys are snake bit...kessel can score. stuff like this is how we break washington when we have no business doing so.
