Eh. Not sure it would be misuse because when it worked, Malkin and Letang were probably our best options on the point.

Needed a right handed shot, which Letang is, you're not going to really take Malkin off the 1st PP unless there was something REALLY bad going on, and when the opportunity came for Ehrhoff to slide up in the absence of some players and the PP slump, he was hurt.

As sad as it is. I don't think Erhoff will never be the same.
That's not sad at all.

I also don't think they had a great option to pair him with, as he would have been better with a stay-at-home type. Too many PMDs and Rob Scuderi. But then again, I like my defense like an NES Ice Hockey lineup. Fast guys with fat bruisers.

@penguins: #Pens Coach Johnston said that Christian Ehrhoff has an upper-body injury and will be out for several days.

@penguins: That means the #Pens will have to play short a man tonight vs. Carolina. They'll dress 11 forwards and six defensemen.

Unreal. Well, at least Hornqvist and/or Malkin will be back by Sunday (hopefully)

Must be no cap room for a call up ?

Nope. The only cap room that was made available was sending Pouliot down to bring up Ebbett. No room to just bring up a forward.

Now that Pouliot has to be back up, still no room unless they put Ehrhoff on LTIR (if for some reason he'd be out 10 games, which is possible).

For the people who say "Injuries aren't an excuse": http://www.mangameslost.com/nhl-team-wo ... -season-2/
Least affected by man-games lost in the past 6 seasons? The LA Kings and Boston Bruins. Winners of three of the last five Stanley Cups. Chicago sits 27th in cumulative man-games lost and they’ve won the other two Stanley Cups in that time frame.
27th, 29th, and 30th in terms of man games lost. Pens are 4th over that same period of time.

Not saying that injuries and injured players mean a team has no shot, but it definitely has an effect on the team's performance over the course of a year (or 4), and come playoff time.

Malkin looks to be good-to-go tomorrow. Practicing on a line with Kunitz & Comeau.

Hornqvist is practicing with Adams & Lapierre. Guessing he's not ready yet.

What is the penalty for exceeding the cap?

What happens if the Pens lose another player or two Saturday?

Anyone have any idea how this cap situation works with Letang out and needing to call up likely Harrington?

Can we just forfeit the season and not risk any more injury?

Probably not going to happen unless Letang is placed on LTIR
