If Spaling and the 15% retention are true, this is a pretty nice deal in terms of the next few years go. Any news on the 2 Russians that were supposedly being signed today? Add them, subtract only Spaling from the lineup, and even with losing Downie, Comeau, Martin and Lappiere we are pretty well set for the season.

Still wouldn't mind adding Comeau back in for 3rd line duty.

We got Tyler Biggs and Tim Erixon in the deal as well. The other pick we gave was a 3rd.

Erixon is a smart defenseman, son of Jan Erixon former Ranger checker. Definitely can play a bottom pair in the league. Has gotten passed around a lot, never got a fair shot I feel. Competent player. Not overly skilled, but can play.

Conditional... I posted in the FA one, but I'll post again here.

*If Pittsburgh qualifies for the 2016 postseason, Toronto will receive the Penguins’ 2016 first-round draft pick; and the Penguins will receive Toronto’s 2016 second-round selection. The second-round pick would be the one Toronto originally acquired from Pittsburgh for Daniel Winnik earlier this year.

*Should Pittsburgh miss the 2016 playoffs, Toronto will INSTEAD receive the Penguins’ 2017 first-round pick; with Pittsburgh getting Toronto’s 2017 second-round selection in return.

*If the Penguins were to miss the postseason the next two years, Toronto would receive Pittsburgh’s 2017 second-round draft pick and Pittsburgh would not receive a draft pick.

It took them nearly 90 minutes to even mention the trade. I wouldn't take what they say/leave out as solid fact.

People who cover other teams had a Crosby quote before the pens twitter even bothered for crying out loud.
