I come from a place with a really large hispanic (is that offensive?) population.
Los Angeles has a fairly large Hispanic community. :slug:

A friend who is about leave the Navy said "No no no no no."
I don't know if Gunny Hartman actually supports that, or if he's just meme fodder. But I've often said that my only real regret in life is that I didn't serve. That said, perhaps if it was compulsory for everyone, we wouldn't be so quick to throw bombs around at everyone.

What a strange debate. Trump inflames those prone to racism. Big surprise.
If that's what he had said, they would have been no discussion.
But that's not what Troy said, is it?

He said that the racist graffiti was written by Trump supporters and even went so far as to make up a lie about a fictitious #Trump2016 has tag.

There's a bit of a difference there.

But your comment isn't a surprise either. Classic Factorial.

However the fiscal conservative in me balks at whether or not, as a nation, we'd get our money's worth with only two years.

(Although many economic and societal benefits would be realized after those individuals are honorably discharged)
I think the parenthetical bit is the operative goal of compulsory service. It makes sure everyone has skin in the game. Look at how much more interventionist we became in the latter quarter of the 20th century, after the switch to the all-volunteer force. (I mean direct military action, not the cold war espionage nation building stuff the CIA was doing post-WW2)

Are you forgetting that State College is the home to a major state university, that draws students in from all over the world?

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to fact check your claim about your friend.

Some friendly local ethnic intimidation. This was my favorite taco stand when I lived that way.

Thanks Donald.
Of all of the places that I've lived, Pittsburgh has one of the smallest ratio of Latinos. (Actually, Auburn may be second o that list).

Now I haven't lived in Pittsburgh for almost 20 years, is it still true that Pittsburgh has a small Latino representation?

@Tico Rick ?
It's been 31 years since I lived in Pittsburgh, so I can't tell you, EPP.

It's also had serious issues over the years where it's been accused of not having enough diversity. Even within the black community.

They've made great strides... Black applications have been steadily increasing at 2% per year, and Hispanic applications were up 9% this year. But PSU is still less diverse than most cornerstone state land grant universities.

And as for your fact checking... Have at it.

But you may want to start with the sketchiest stories like #Trump2016
