I think that the Shazier injury completely wiped out the normal 'bloodlust' that usually accompanies watching an NFL game. The perception of the hits made later in the game were all tinted with a feeling of the actual reality of the violence on display. You almost become numb to the speed and viciousness...until something like Shazier pinches you awake again.I would argue the cheap shot on brown was the worst the NFL has to offer.
I think that the strong commentary today is a result of witnessing something potentially tragic, then continuing to watch these men do what they do every week. Rational people realize that something like that can happen on any play...but it's easy to 'forget' that on a play-by-play basis.
