So with the bad weather, trees down and power and internet out for 2 and 5 days respectively, I've been gone for about a week.

What'd I miss?

Anything good?

Well I still have a job, got one of the new positions. All told less than 20 people had to be forcibly let go. Many people took the buyout options.
Good news! :thumb:

I think my wife is more relieved than me. It's exciting though. I get a raise.

I'm glad it worked out, it's never a nice situation to be in. Getting a raise is good too!

So last week I had to move some very large universal power supplies from one lab to another to back up our servers. One had a leaky lead acid battery that leaked on me, so I went to the wet lab next door to take care of cleaning that off of me and dispose of the battery and I saw two guys with full respirators and gloves on cleaning out a refrigerator that had old chemicals from a retired chemistry professor that just left everything. I thought "awesome, that fridge smelled so bad. Glad the stuff is gone." Got an e-mail today that I read while I was preparing dinner... They found anthrax samples in the fridge. WTF?

They said that the samples were shipped here 8 years ago, they were mostly dead at the time and had a slim chance of causing infection then, and they would have mostly died since then, but still. WTF? How were we not made aware that stuff was there?
