I was going to pull a quote about The Marvels (film) needing 4 weeks of reshoots to fix a muddled plot, but the whole article shines a light on the mess that is the current MCU. They don't know how to replace Johnathan Majors' Kang and they weren't able to rewrite much over the summer due to the writer's strike. It's a mess. Very good read: https://variety.com/2023/film/features/ ... 235774940/

They were in trouble long before Kang and the writer's strike. Looking forward to reading the article, though. Maybe the article covers this, but why don't they just recast Kang? They did it with War Machine the Incredible **** Hulk but draw the line at Kang the Conqueror?

That was suggested, even mentioning the Howard/Cheadle thing. Evidently, Kang has huge implications with the ending of Loki season 2 (which hasn't aired yet). They also mention the only bright spot this year for Marvel was GotG3...which of course was written and directed by James Gunn. Who is now in charge of all things DC

I just read the article, and while there are a lot of issues, my main thing is just the overkill. Did the same with Star Wars for a while before they pulled back some. There just becomes TOO much content, you start getting bad story lines, and just overkill. I mean Star Wars and Marvel are two things I love, but I needed a break.

I think it was somewhere around the end of Loki S1 where I just hit a wall and haven't gone back. (and I did enjoy that).

It just got overwhelming with series after series being pumped out and more and more movies... I think the last movie I saw was Far From Home actually, now that I think about it...

I had zero interest in seeing The Marvels in the theater before reading that article, now I have even less interest.

Loki season 2 has been good though. A lot darker than other MCU projects imo.

I tried to start watching Loki last week and turned it off before the recap ended. My Marvel interest level is damn near zero at the moment. I still haven't watched Secret Invasion. The movies are whatever. At least a bad Marvel movie is over in 2.5 hours. The series feel like a **** chore. Most of the series should've been a movie and the ones that wouldn't work as a movie shouldn't exist.

I thought the first episode was slow, but it gets going pretty quickly. Only 6 episodes, too.

Even if each episode is only 40 minutes long, that's still four hours of content. Even Scorsese wouldn't make a four hour Loki movie.

I (we) still haven't consumed much if any marvel content after Endgame. We watched the GOTG Christmas special last year, but that has been about it. Just lost interest in it I think.

Yeah call me crazy but I don’t really think Loki needs 9 hours to tell his story.

Probably about 8 minutes of that are credits and localization actors (Uzbeki Loki voiced by... )

Newest episode of Loki was really good. I look forward to the weekly episodes when they are done so well like this season and last. This is definitely one show I'd rather they keep a show. Music from RAD was a nice added bonus. Owen Wilson is perfect in this role. Benson and Moorhead are killing it.

‘Loki’ Writer Eric Martin Says Season 3 is Unlikely: “I Just Wanted to Tell a Full and Complete Story Across Those Two Seasons”
I haven't finished the season yet, but by all accounts it ended really well. This has been one of the better Marvel TV shows, for sure.

Haven't started season 2 yet. Do I need to rewatch season 1 if I kind of forgot what happened, or just reading a wiki summary would suffice?

I'd say you can stick with a S01 recap video instead of rewatching it all.

The Marvels was a fun movie. Does not deserve the hate it has been getting.

And Loki season 2 was incredible.

Yeah, saw the Marvels bombed at the box office this weekend, at least in relation to it's franchise peers.

Two reasons I'm not going to the theaters to see it: 1) I'm just not as invested in the multiverse sage as I was infinity wars 2) I'll just wait a few weeks until it's released on Disney plus.

Loki was so good. Perfect example (and maybe the only one so far) of how a series can work better than a movie. Probably one of the best story arcs for a marvel character on screen.

Yeah I just don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything by not seeing it in theaters. I also haven’t watched Loki s2 yet. Or secret wars. Actually, I’m just going to read a secret wars recap.
