I already mentioned to my wife that we should plan to be away during that week lol. The thing is there is a softball tournament that weekend in Ohio again (world series of softball) and I think it's four days. I'm pretty sure they plan on going on vacation right after that tournament...so in all reality it could be like 10 days or so of watching the dog. Just not happening.

If our yard was fenced in it would be easier and almost doable. Our own dog is a runner and has to be on a lead all the time. Their older dog is not a runner but she is deaf and half blind at this point so can't let her out without her being on a leash, and the youngest dog is two years old and has crazy energy. They have an electric pet fence at home that keeps the peace, but we don't have that here.

I/we don't mind helping. It's just the lack of respect on asking ahead of time, things always last minute, then things extending on way longer than they are supposed to. For us to have two dogs here for 10 days and try to work and sleep is crazy, to try and have three dogs here is just not a thing that is possible. They will need to figure something out, but we shall see what happens as we get closer. I told my wife we need to have this discussion now and not wait for them to drop this on us last minute.

Even if you don't plan on going away, just tell them that you have a scheduled trip and can't do it.

I wouldn’t lie. Just tell them that it’s become too much with your schedule and your own animals. Maybe offer to help them find a suitable place to board them when they travel.

Tell them to sod off and provide them a map (with arrows) showing them where they can shove their discourtesy.

On the road this week, went down to the Hampton breakfast bar on Tuesday, no forks. Minor inconvenience to eat my eggs and sausage with a spoon, No worries.

Yesterday, picked breakfast up on the way to the plant.

Thursday, went before my flight to get a waffle. Still no forks.

SEND SOMEBODY TO EFFING WALMART AND GET SOME DAMN FORKS.

Missing stupid little details really annoys me.

This is a minor gear-grinder, but I just read a couple posts on X where people were complaining about their flights being delayed and they spent several hours "sitting on the tarmac." Tarmac isn't a place, and it isn't used as a place in aviation circles. Tarmac is a form of layered surface made of asphalt and crushed concrete and stone. It probably came to be used in aviation circles because it was commonly used to pave early airports, although it hasn't been used to pave airports for decades because it wouldn't hold up to the weight of modern aircraft. But there's no part of an airport that's called the "tarmac."

The part of the airport right around the terminal where the places park for loading, unloading, and fueling is officially called the apron by the ICAO and FAA, although in the US and Canada the term ramp is also often used. The long strips where aircraft take off are obviously runways, and the “roads” airplanes take to get to and from the runways are taxiways. That's it. There are no other official names for the surfaces at an airport. One's flight might have been stuck waiting on the apron, or stuck waiting on a taxiway, or maybe even told to go wait on a closed runway, but it wasn't stuck on any tarmac.

People "suffering" are using the wrong terminology.

How dare they.

I didn't want some smartass saying "You forgot runways." I see that was a no-win scenario.

Honestly I’m not sure why anyone is given shyster flak for this one. This is a gr8 use of the gear grinding thread. Much better use than UGH the ups guy put my package too close to the lawn and the automatic sprinkler got it

It's not abbreviated, Bucks County simply ran out of money for the other letters...

Getting a message from Verizon that we need to upgrade our internet connection. Cool...wanted to do that anyway. Log into my account and start upgrading the plan to a Gig. Cart captures everything, upgraded connection and replacing our 3 set top boxes but keeping everything else the same. Easy Peasy. Price of the plan drops $35/month. Even better. Everything confirmed in the cart. Click the 'Estimate Monthly Bill' to verify everything before checking out. Price is showing $90 more per month than our current plan??? Okay. Bundle (triple play) is listed on the estimated bill as $222/mo, but the cart shows $152/mo. That's not good.

Call Verizon. Get a rep. Explain the situation. She goes in and builds the same upgrade. Sees the lowered price that I saw initially. Puts me on hold. Comes back and says that once they put everything in, the price of the bundle shows $178/mo. But the total bill comes out to about $25 more a month than our current plan. I ask why the cart is showing a different price. She says online offers are different and it's probably cheaper for me to complete the transaction online. Appreciate her honesty, but ask 'so why is the estimated bill so much higher and show a different amount for the bundle?' Her response 'I don't know but it should be fine.' I ask if there is any other way to confirm what the actual bill will be, and she says that she can only verify the quotation that she has and can't see what I'm seeing.

So...yeah. Google tells me that Verizon's estimated bill is almost always wrong, so fingers crossed I guess?

I've had the opposite experience with Comcast. Prices online seemed high, called in and got cheaper bundles that weren't listed on the website portal.

My daughter left the shopping bag for her shoes out, and my cat decided to play with it, managed to get her leg caught in the handle, and then proceeded to run through the entire downstairs like a maniac, all the while peeing out of fright on every floor, including the carpet under the loveseat. Time will tell if I got everything up, and I’ve ordered another product, but this was just not fun. 0 stars.

I've had that experience, minus the peeing part. Hilarious to watch.
