I mean, the Fed didn't start raising rates until March 2022 and didnt get serious about persistently raising rates until May. We can also speculate that inflation wouldn't have been quite so bad if not for the war in Ukraine, and that was not something that most people would habe comprehended in 2021. It's safe to say that Treasury bonds wouldn't have had historically awful returns in 2022 if not for ukraine.

I'd also say that a 10 year treasury is by no means a long dated maturity. Are there shorter dated ones? Sure. But 10 years isn't reckless.

But overall, my goal here isn't to apologize for their failure or act like someone didn't f up royally. They messed up big time, but I don't think any sort of additional regulation would have prevented it. It would have taken some more proactive risk management and a few hedges against higher rates.
More i think about this, more I think the run was caused by their concentration risks.

They could have raised more capital and remained in business, but then a bunch of tech dadholes talked themselves into a frenzy on twitter and caused the run.

Probably best for everyone to just go on youtube, watch the Jimmy Stewart monologue from It's a Wonderful Life. Ask themselves if they actually comprehend what happened, and if not, go read some safety and soundness standards that the regulatory agencies to understand what a bank is.

Oh geez, the photos are alarming enough. The Nazis didn't even come to power in Germany until the early 30s, if they were filling MSG in New York a decade prior...... :scared:

By "taken down" you mean "collided with." This makes it sound like an accident.
Several times before the collision the Su-27 fighter jets dumped fuel on the drone in a "reckless, environmentally unsound and unprofessional manner".

A manned jet colliding with a UAV is pretty funny.

there’s two views as per the Russia stuff. A pro-Russia stance which is distrusting and indefensible and an anti-interventionist lean which I think has legitimate merit

though, many of the anti-interventionists believe that instead of giving money to the Ukrainians, we should be putting it in other dumb stuff. I guess it doesn’t really matter what the US spends its money on because I know it isn’t going to go to anything useful like healthcare reform

The Su-27 pilots were doing what Spitfires used to do with V-1s over England in WWII - fly parallel and tip the wings, making it fly out of control and crash somewhere rural. Those Spitfire pilots had nerves of steel. Russians were probably drunk.

If the tech bros didn't make a run on the bank when they found out svb had to raise $2 billion in stock, this would still be a news worthy event to some extent. Like page 3 of the WSJ's business news section plus maybe a heard on the street article mocking their risk management.

But that's not how it panned out and now here we are

I doubt the average dumbf*ck party member can tell you what anti-interventionalist even means, but the dumbf*ck they voted for said it, so that's the excuse. Where'd that come from? Brandon and the woke libtard gays decided to defend Ukraine from communist Russia, and the woke gays are bad. Wait wasn't communism the same as socialism? It was according to dumbf*ck a couple years ago. I guess that means the commies are fighting the socialists because that's what Biden is(no explanation). Mr. Alpha himself, pilsbury donald already said that Ukraine was corrupt, and we know that because Hunter Biden. Would trump lie? Of course not, and now Tucker Carlson has been slobbing Vlad's penis, telling America nightly that Russia good, Ukraine bad. F*CK listening to anyone with state crafting ability, they must be lying because they've never admitted to being the fake entertainment news they clearly are. This includes people like Col. Vindman, Anthony Blinken, even Mitch McConnell, you know, news stations.

When McCain was around Russia was a global threat. Now it's MTG and Gaetz just yelling at anything that moves. It's not that these people are choosing between 2 different views and took the wrong one, it's that they have no views. Just like that trigglypuff video years back where that dadhole girl is screaming in a theater. Not because she's right about anything, but because she turned her brain off the second someone told her she was one of them. Watching people try to figure out how to reach one of these Putinites is like watching someone try to change the channel by blinking at the TV. The Russian effort to keep their population blind and stupid will work anywhere someone with power tries it, and these are the people it works on. Why are the conservatives doing this? Being paid by putin, need to own the libs, or maybe their voters are locked on donald's nutsack and couldn't be removed with thermite, so they have to repeat the same stupid **** he said to keep their chair.

The greatest country the world has ever seen, with the strongest military the world has ever seen NEEDED to occupy Iraq and Afghanistan for 20 years and 8 trillion dollars, but the already spent cost of extra combat equipment for the defenders of Holocaust 2 is just too much for this fragile fragile nation to endure? Sit on a missile.

wait, I can make my heart grow with ivermectin?

Not according to any of the lists of side effects that I just looked up. The Vice article implies that cardiomegaly (heart enlargement) is a "common side effect" of ivermectin, but it provides no support whatsoever for that proposition. The article does mention that ivermectin can cause "heart problems." Yeah, it can, with those "problems" being tachycardia, EKG changes, and low blood pressure.* Not cardiomegaly.

Look, the guy who took ivermectin was an idiot, but that article's attempt to dunk on him by linking his death from an enlarged heart to ivermectin is also bullcrap.

I didn't think it was that Ivermectin caused an enlarged heart, but that it was a second order kind of thing. It caused this or that other condition, or combination of conditions, which in turn caused the cardiac damage.

I don't remember, I'm honestly still waiting for the Arizona lady to be arrested in the fish food caper.

For anyone interested, I thought this was a good read. It's a Q&A with the FBI agent that spent a year with Saddam in interigation 20 years ago.

If you write a book about woke indoctrination of children happening in today's society, and then go a crusade to rid libraries of "woke" books, maybe you should be able to define "woke." Like, how do you not have that in the hopper?

I can't wait until a new shiny toy comes along and we don't hear the word woke anymore.
