Speaking as a well documented over-tipper, I’m somewhat shocked that after giving the daycare upwards of $35,000, you feel the need to give them a gift of any monetary value. I’d have your daughter make a hand print turkey and call it a day

Yea, I don't know how I feel know, but not being used to even just 12K a year, that's good enough for me.

I get that, but we love them, and they’ve done a terrific job with out daughter - with exception to her last teacher, who is no longer there. I’m not talking about spending much money at all here, just a small gesture.

We will probably do the same. We have gotten her teachers Christmas presents every year, something for teacher appreciation week,and when she graduates classrooms. In my experience, it is REALLY appreciated

Wife just melted down over something awful over a small comment that wasn't meant to directly offend her. Pregnancy is great.

Ahh, the "I'm sorry you're upset" line. Sure to make any minor disagreement 10x worse. Right up there with "You're acting off lately" after she snaps at you once or twice.

This can be a good thing from time to time.

I wanted @malkintent to have 5 kids before I had one. Couldn't even do that right.

This summer, my kids have spent the most time away from us since birth. They spent a week at camp, then another week with my aunt, and they are spending five days split between my brother and parents' houses this week.

I haven't felt the least bit guilty or really missed them. At all. It's been nice to spend time alone with my wife, without the boys whining about what we're eating for dinner, in-app purchases, and other annoying nonsense.

I think a lot of us here are in the same boat, but my kids are around us a lot. They don't go to friends' houses often, and our closest family is 90 minutes away. A lot of their friends here have both sets of grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles that live in the same neighborhood or 5-10 minutes away.

It has been glorious. School starts two weeks from today, and then it's back to the homework grind.

Source of the post I think a lot of us here are in the same boat, but my kids are around us a lot. They don't go to friends' houses often, and our closest family is 90 minutes away. A lot of their friends here have both sets of grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles that live in the same neighborhood or 5-10 minutes away.

We've only ever been away from our daughter for more than one day exactly once - back in 2014 when we left her with my parents as we went away on vacation by ourselves. I'm honestly not looking forward to the time where she'll be away from home for any amount of time, probably because I'll just worry the entire time.

I know some people that have literally never spent a night away from their child(ren). I honestly can't even imagine that. I love my daughter and would do anything for her but damn. That said, after one night I start to miss her and on the occasions we've gone away for a couple days the guilt sets in. She's at that age now where I just want to treasure every minute of it.

Our daughter's first night away from us will be in December. Wife and I are heading to a wedding in Philly and she's staying with my parents. She'll be almost 8 months old by then, so it should be fine. We were invited to a good friend's wedding when she was 2.5 months old, and we tried to convince ourselves it would be fine for just one night away, but in the end we decided that was too young to try that.
