Katie Britt's performance came across like one of those abused animal cry fest commercials with her overly dramatic performance.

"You've heard what Biden wants. Now, here is a woman who knows her place, speaking to you from her kitchen in Alabama."

To borrow a sentiment from Shyster on the Trump admin: you shouldn’t have to use crazy conspiracy theories or outright lies to show how bad it is…

If things are really that bad at the border, just use what’s there. You shouldn’t have to stoop to stories like that to show how bad it is.

I gave in and watched it. The whole video sounds like ASMR porn for closeted fundamentalists.

:thumb:

I agree with the comments about it being an SNL sketch. Even Trump got flamed by his own followers for saying that she did a great job

I can see how this might unfold, so can we quickly just say with one voice that sex trafficking is bad?

lol also I had to looked into the “woman raped by Mexicans thing”
In Britt's speech, she discussed a woman who alleged being "sex trafficked by the cartels starting at the age of 12", with Britt commenting: "We wouldn’t be okay with this happening in a Third World country. This is the United States of America, and it is past time, in my opinion, that we start acting like it. President Biden’s border policies are a disgrace."[55] Britt's aide confirmed that Britt was discussing the story of Karla Jacinto Romero.[55] However, Romero has said that after she "fell prey to a professional pimp", she was repeatedly raped in her home country of Mexico (not the United States) from 2004 to 2008; the American president at the time was George W. Bush, not Joe Biden.
this is where the Republican Party is right now. Just telling lies over and over again

That’s part of the plan. Lie, lie gets found out, waters are too muddy for anyone to care and the lie continues.
The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

I do quite enjoy when Trump was president/during covid. Tik-Tok was the devil, now Trump is dealing with a Tik Tok investor, and all of a sudden they don't want to get rid of it.

I'm surprised you haven't demanded that I pay rent for the space I occupy in your head.

I happen to on when your hypocrisy shows up. If you need a place to stay though, I’d never charge you rent.

re: Community notes.

Joe Biden says that he would sign a bill to ban TikTok.

Some guy on X says that if China or North Korea did that, people would be calling it fascism.

Community Notes correctly says that China and North Korea both censor and restrict the internet (in China's case, mostly, in NK's case, totally).

While Community Notes is correct that China and North Korea both censor and restrict the internet, and neither would permit TikTok as we know it, the point that was being (inartfully) raised is that censoring and restricting the internet—which President Biden just expressed a willingness to do—is the sort of thing that restrictive, non-free, totalitarian states do, not states that respect free speech and open expression. Which is why I said that Community Notes missed the point.

I further note that Montana's ban on Tiktok was enjoined by a federal judge and found unconstitutional in multiple ways, some of which would carry over to an attempted federal ban, including a finding that the ban violated the First Amendment.

Yep, “Kinda missed the point” fits you much better than Shyster.
