System Shock is being remade. The sequel was developed by Irrational Games, which makes sense as it's sort of a spiritual precursor to Bioshock. Hope it's good, the original had some cool elements.

New IP from Obsidian/Paradox coming down the pike. Looks like you'll be a villain protagonist in it.

CKII may be my favorite game of all time so Paradox gets the benefit of the doubt, but isometric RPG is a hard pass from me in most every instance. Will wait and see what comes of this.

Can Nintendo please just go back to a nice controller without a gimmick. Just keep the wii u pro controller design and everyone can be happy. The last thing I want is a screen with no actual buttons, I really don't want to play a game using my cell phone as a controller.

Nintendo definitely has roots in weird controller gimmicks. Some work, most don't. Let's run them down:

R.O.B.
Power Glove
Power Pad (third-party but too horrible not to mention)
Advantage
Zapper
NES Standard controller. (one of the first console controllers with a D-pad)
SNES standard controller (introduced shoulder buttons)
N64 standard controller (first system to launch with an analog stick)
Rumble pack
Donkey Konga bongos
Wiimote/Nunchuck
That WiiU monstrosity

I didn't know the Power Pad was third party.

Don't forget the Super Scope:

And the Virtual Boy, for that matter.

Nintendo definitely has roots in weird controller gimmicks. Some work, most don't. Let's run them down:

R.O.B. - Have one, but never used it. Before Mario blew up though, ROB was the face of Nintendo, has some nostalgia to him for him, but as a controller, only had 2 games and didn't do much

Power Glove - Have one of these, but turned out to be a dud too. Never really used it. The Wizard is the only reason it was big.

Power Pad (third-party but too horrible not to mention) - Have one of these, I actually liked it as a kid. Back in the late 80s/early 90s, this was like one of the first interactive type of "controllers" out there. Playing World Class Track meet on this as a kid was great.

Advantage - Have one, it is my go to controller back in the day. I has the Turbo button figured out for Track and Field 2 to win all of the events. Still have the pencil mark on mine where you need to turn the turbo to win. Awesome for other games.

Zapper - Have. Gotcha, Operation Wolf and Duck Hunt were the main ones I used this for. Again, new back in the day. Was awesome using a gun as a controller. Thumbs up.

NES Standard controller. (one of the first console controllers with a D-pad) - Have. The D pad definitely changed the way controllers were made.

SNES standard controller (introduced shoulder buttons) - Have. Same as D pad, but with the shoulder buttons. Good stuff.

N64 standard controller (first system to launch with an analog stick) - Have, got some taking used to, but ended up being a good controller. Analog stick was key.

Rumble pack - Have. Pretty much useless.

Donkey Konga bongos - Do no have. Looked stupid.

Wiimote/Nunchuck - Have. Definitely was gimmick, and some games great, others that sucked, but reason the Wii sold a ton of systems.

That WiiU monstrosity - Do not have WiiU so can't comment.
I'd add the stylus for the 3DS for gaming, which IMO sucked for the Zelda games.

And Gameboy while not a controller, was something totally different when it came out.

Nintendo was very innovative back in the day and revolutionized home gaming, but they refuse to change with the times where graphics and actual game play really matter to gamers today.

My bad. Meant to put that with the Power Glove, which was Mattel.

I wouldn't say the Rumble Pack was useless. Think of the impact going forward. Every single controller now has a rumble component.

I didn't know the Power Glove was third party. ;) Which is worse, because I have one. I guess I just assumed that peripherals that follow the NES color scheme were Nintendo. Interesting stuff.

Yes, and it had the d-pad with the circle in the middle.

Which I'm not really a big fan of. But to each their own.

It is funny to think though that back in the day, that wasn't standard.

I remember I was so pumped to get a power glove as a kid especially after seeing "The Wizard" movie, and it turned out to be soooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad.

I wanted to add that Donkey Konga was insanely fun.
