Cover letters for positions you are applying to internally: how do you write it differently (do you write it differently)?

I'm not sure I'd write it much different, other than that I would highlight my accomplishments with the company to date and then just go right on about what you bring to the table...I like reading cover letters...and I don't mind if they don't fit a particular formula, as long as they're relevant and informative...

I don't know how e-Verify works, because I'm a born-and-bred 'Murican. But do they give a reason why you failed? Or is it just binary pass-fail?

DHS doesn't give you a reason, just P/F.

The lady at the company said they've never had someone fail. Hopefully either A) I don't have the Feds arresting me in moments, or B) Someone didn't steal my identity.

Depending on your situation and what type of release forms you signed as part of the background check process, this process ought to go through the prospective employer or, if applicable the Credit Reporting Agency (CRA, not to be used with the "big 3" that issue credit scores, this refers to any third-party that runs a background check on behalf of a prospective employer). As a result of this properly filed dispute, the prospective employer may not make a hiring decision (or take other adverse action) until the dispute is resolved in a satisfactory manner...

Speaking of references: I got a really weird call today, regarding the past employment of a student worker.
Some verification company called me about him. I muddled my way through about 10 questions, but I'm not sure I even remember him.

Either way, I hope he gets the job.

I am very much against people using references without a green light from said reference. Whenever someone uses me without notifying me, I am rarely kind.
