The Wal-Mart (and I don't mean that pejoratively) of liquor. Love it there. Can't beat the price either.I used to have to go to Wilmington, DE for work occasionally and stopping at Total Wine was the only highlight of the hour and half drive.

@@count2infinity, have you been to Rusty Rail Brewing in Middleburg? I see signs for it all the time coming up 15 towards Bucknell, but haven't been.

I haven’t. I’ve seen some of their stuff for sale around here, but haven’t tried it yet. My manager’s daughter went to bucknell and said he’s been and it’s pretty good, but he’s not a beer guy and loves boomer food, so take that for what it’s worth.

Hmmm... how to describe boomer food.
Not well seasoned, over cooked, frozen/canned foods, perhaps doused in gravy, *insert national beer brand name* light...
Applebees and Redneck Applebees (Cracker Barrel)... that's boomer food.

Thanks. Neither of my parents really cook, and my wife's parents are silent generation. We avoid Applebees and the like, so don't have much experience there.

We dog sat for a woman who went on a trip to Wisconsin. She brought back some stuff from new glarus as a thank you. The spotted cow lives up to the hype. Unlike those unicorn ipas that taste just like stuff I can get from wegmans.

I bought a couple 6 packs from New Glarus when we were up at Mayo Clinic in October. I had some Spotted Cow, Moon Man, and I don't remember what the other was but it's not on their website anymore. Still have a Spotted Cow in the fridge. It's definitely quality brew.
There's some charm that they only keep their distribution to their home state, but how often does anybody get to Wisconsin?

Spotted Cow is one of my favorites.
Someone gave us a Brew Dog advent calendar. Every day it's like chewing hops, regardless of what kind of beer it is supposed to be. What do people see in this kind of flavor? It's abrasive up front and leaves a bitter after taste.

I don't get IPAs either. The hops just smack you in the face and taunt you after. When the hops are subtle, I enjoy it. Hard to find, though.

Speaking of bumpin' microbreweries (and previous discussions on Millennium park), anybody been to the Spoonwood brewery? Every time I drive by that place is packed.

There seems to be a disproportionate amount of trucks vs. SUVs there, so not sure what the scene is like

I am an IPA lover. I enjoy the floral/citrusy hops more, but I do enjoy the bitter/pine ones from time to time as well. I don't know why. Of course, I also love cruciferous vegetables, black coffee, and other such things. Maybe I'm just a bitter person.Spotted Cow is one of my favorites.

I trend more towards regular pale ales, anything bitter is in my lane. Don't much care for the juice bomb types. It's always a crap shoot on the Pale Ale/IPA continuum between what I'm going to like and not like.
If there's nothing else available Sierra Nevada is my go to. Also like the Green Flash West Coast IPA.

Yeah it's nice that West Coast seems to be making a bit of the minor comeback in the area, after being inundated with the Hazy trend.

It's Mad Elf season for me. But also any stout I see on tap will be on the top of my list to at least try.

There was a brewery at stoltz and library road but apparently it closed. It only opened in like 2020 or 2021. Might be a record in futility

I always get my Dad some St Nickolas Bock for Christmas. I don’t remember exactly what I’ve paid in the past, but aJR’s Beer Warehouse this week it was $17.50 a four pack. So he’s getting 8 and not a case.

Any hidden gems (whether it be a brewery or beer bar) in Philly? Monk's is a must, but beyond that?
