There are 11 starting nfl QBs the same age or younger than him. He’s a 24 year old dude out there playing against a good number of 18-20 year olds. In a position like qb, that’s worth a lot.

I don’t believe he’ll be drafted, no.

The COVID College Sports era is a weird time. Couple The ability to stay in school with eligibility for 6 or 7 years that with NIL and free classes and why ever leave if you can still play college but aren’t likely to get drafted?

Will Cliffy have his doctorate by the time he graduates?

Surprised that PSU hasn't already given him tenure.

That was as complete a victory yesterday as we've seen in a number of years. It was nice to see a lot of improvements on both sides of the ball from the first game. Only frustrations were the penalties and the inability to get off the field on a few 3rd and longs. Got a couple of weeks of layups followed by a bye week and then the real season will begin. I certainly didn't think they'd emerge from this early road swing undefeated so this changes the goalposts a bit in terms of what I'm thinking for the rest of the season.

CMU isn't awful, and Northwestern beat craptacular Nebraska but lost to traditional doormat Duke then a So Ill team that was already 0-2 vs 1-AA opposition. Can't overlook them but shouldn't be an issue.

That bye week before Michigan could be big. They have played possibly the three worst teams in 1-A, and have Maryland, Iowa, and Indiana before PSU goes there. Could be argued that apart from maybe Iowa's defense, PSU is the first credible team they'll play and it's in week 7. We are and will still be more battle tested at that point.

Headed up for the CMU game on Saturday. There are more interesting games to go to but littlest franchises priorities in game selection were nice weather and win. High of 67 and beautiful on Saturday.

She’s been to 2 games and I doubt it broke 40 for either.

Bad Clifford today. Every throw is high or low.

Not as good as they should have been today but good enough. I’m sure they weren’t really looking to show much of anything. CMU has some decent pieces. Credit to them for making it a game.

They seem to have tweaked the game day experience a little so it’s not as much like 20 years ago. Even against an unattractive opponent, It was a blast.

Did you get any booze? How'd that test run go?

Were debating on taking the kids up next Saturday.

Typical sandwich game against a MAC opponent. Didn't really show much and they made the necessary adjustments after that bad 2nd quarter. My only concerns are with the defense continually giving up chunk plays, especially on stuff underneath and Clifford once again showing that he makes freshman mistakes as a 24 year old. Twice in the 2nd quarter, he had the back out of the backfield for an easy toss on the sideline that would have gotten big yardage (the 2nd one would have gone to Singleton and there was no one out there to stop him). But instead, he goes with his first read down the middle of the field and overshoots everyone. Someone has got to get in his damn ear and tell him that our backs in space are a lot better 1 v 1 than a lot of LB's and that deep throw down the middle is just not high percentage.

I thought I read that they were using the game as a test run to sell alcohol inside the stadium. Maybe I am wrong.

Side non football note, we went to the women’s soccer game today and little known Fact, PSU is good at women’s soccer. 20 B1G titles in what, 28 years in the B1G plus a natty. They demolished Illinois today, 5-0 and it wasn‘t that close.

All that said I get that there’s a reason they call these sports non revenue but we get bigger crowds to our high school games. 40,000 students, surely some of whom are big soccer fans and nobody can be troubled, for free.

When I went to PSU, other than football, I only went to a women's volleyball game but that was only because someone I went to high school with was on the team.

Yeah I think I went to one basketball game outside of the NIT championship game in 2010 (at MSG).

A few wrestling matches, wrestling in Rec hall was an experience.

If the hockey team was any good back then I'd have gone. It was still a club team.

Basketball in rec hall was pretty great. That low ceiling made it really loud. Not that it helped much.

I think they scrapped the test run idea. They approved alcohol sales on Friday, but said it would roll out at a later date.

It's kind of cool that it's not an option IMO. The lines are already insane. Add 50k folks taking a leak every half hour to that, your stadium experience is lost. Do most other college stadiums sell beer?

The article that I read said that Penn State will be the 8th Big Ten team to sell it. I'm not sure about other conferences.

My daughter said yesterday that she would rather hold it than stand in a line 5 women deep just as halftime was starting (we were in row 14 and able to be some of the first out at halftime). I was like, oh, honey, no, you stand right there in that line and go. You don't want to decide in 10 minutes you really have to go because then this line will be 40 women deep!

The concourses at Beaver Stadium are just so damn weird. There are, like, two separate rows with restrooms and stuff in between. Everyone goes to the first aisle but the second one, towards the exits and like 15 steps away, can be pretty dead if you're lucky. It's a 1950s era design and exactly the way I remember it when I went to my first game in '88. I assume the upper decks have their own restrooms and concessions, I've never sat up there.

I'm not really sure it's necessary to give people who are already lubed up from tailgating the chance to buy more beer in the stadium. I don't really drink much if at all at sporting events. I'm there to enjoy the game. One beer, tops. When you don't drink, the drunks seem even more obnoxious.

I assume the beer income won't mitigate the recent $500 tuition increase?
