Ramirez is a bit overdone, so perhaps I'm the only one who would like to see him change his mind and stick around to provide some leadership for another year.
His fielding makes me a sad panda.

I'd have to see more out of him down the stretch than he's shown so far. He's showing signs of life but he's had some big dead spots.

Maybe a veteran bench presence would be good - at the right price, no doubt.

Bastardo has been a touch better. Still pretty far away from his career norms. He could be due for a strong stretch run. Could come in handy especially if Soria doesn't turn it on. But it's encouraging to have two chances at having at least one very strong seventh inning guy. Nice that caminero has been strong.

Rodriguez has been horrible offensively. He was always a lottery ticket offensively but it doesn't look like there's much of a chance to get a power streak from him.

Hopefully Ramirez will turn it on. But if he doesn't it's nice to have Harrison and Mercer as options and possibly Pedro will have a hot stretch run.

There's a lot of hope offensively and in the bullpen with many players having track records that could point to strong performances this fall. That may be the silver lining behind the starting pitching storm clouds. I like the heart and talent and experience and hunger of this team in the late innings after a strong but not dominant Cole performance in the wild card if it comes to that. And it looks like the offense and bullpen may have to carry a playoff series if it comes. And I feel good about winning one if prognosticating at this moment.

I didn't bother to see if I had a decent stash of beer, so might have to bust out the cheap bourbon if this goes to extra innings.

Raise it! A win from a Happ start. Good job by him and the bullpen.

Raise it. Win tomorrow. The Pirates were responsible for Matt Harvey's worst start (by far) of the season, so it is asking to much to repeat that? Gonna have to with Locke going.

The NL Central holds three of the best four records in baseball. That's just cruel.

Cascading effect of a depleted staff: forced to hold off on bringing in relievers to make up for the fact that have been/will be over used. And then forced to bring them in, once an over worked starter falters. The kids call that a negative feedback loop.

Why does it seem like the Cards never play anyone with a decent record? I know the schedule is balanced-ish but still, they always seem to be playing trash teams
