WTF is a "Lucid"? I passed one on Bigelow with the dealer paper plate still on it. Looks like a 90s rendering of an EV concept

Got my wife's CR-V back today - only needed a new caliper. I am genuinely shocked that the rotor - which was glowing red - did not warp and did not need to be replaced. She said braking was smooth, so I guess that's that. Checked our records, because I know we've replaced a caliper before, and we did - both rear calipers replaced in 2018 (along with rotors and pads). Bill came in at under $450, which also shocked me.

I don't need a memory feature for my seats, but I want it.

Where are you going to drive and use all that HP outside of a track. Seem wasteful to me.

Realized my inspection was up on my truck in November (woops) and thought I needed front brakes. Ordered them. Went to put them on. Still have a half an inch of pads on the front lol. Back on the shelf they go until hopefully next year.

Well, it is electric, so probably easier/more efficient for them to generate that than they would with a combustion engine.

Rock Auto is the greatest!
I ordered an outside mirror and glass assembly for my sisters suv at 1:43pm Friday. At 2:43pm, I received an email that it was shipped. At 11:05 this morning FedEx delivered it.

Rock Auto had a great price on a heater blower motor for the Saab.
Was refreshing to install that in about an hour with no major complications. Blower motors are usually a giant pain. But in the Saab you just remove the glovebox and boom, there it is.
Right in time for the cold weather.

Took the Flex out this morning on the new CrossClimate 2’s. It did great. Well worth the money IMO.

What do you think of the road noise with them? I don't think they're that much quieter than any other winter tire I've ever used.Took the Flex out this morning on the new CrossClimate 2’s. It did great. Well worth the money IMO.

I don’t notice a difference, but I’ve never been a keen observer of road noise unless it’s very noticeable.

Probably. I still can't believe that you need studded tires at all - especially studded Nokians, which are the best winter tires I've ever used by a country mile.lol NTP with the road noise. You would probably go completely insane riding in our Mazda with the studded Nokians...

So, I'm not a car guy but we took the Fusion (2016, 60k miles) my kid has at school in to the dealer in Rochester for the aforementioned CEL on Monday. FIgured they would eff me on price but I don't know reputable car shops in the area, and the shop his gf's dad recommended hosed up a previous repair, and I didn't want him driving it 250 miles home with a CEL so.....
Two codes, one was fixed by the end of the day (the fuel pressure sensor messed up by the other guy). The other, a turbo overboost code, they apparently have to work with Ford engineering and do what they say to diagnose it. Googling, it seems pretty solid that turbo overboost is usually caused by a wastegate valve actuator issue. I know, don't trust the internet or whatever..... they said, well, it could absolutely be that and we can replace that if you want, but if we say it's that and it's not, the repair comes with a warranty. If you tell us to do that and it's not it, then you're liable for whatever else we have to do. They also said the only way they communicate with Ford engineering is through email, there's no phone or chat access, so it's on Ford's timeline and they have to try the things Ford tells them to in order to diagnose the problem. I just feel like it's strange a dealer doesn't know what's going on with a model they have to see come through the shop every day.
I asked the guy- does this mean there's some massive problem here with the turbo? He says not at all, and they legit don't know what is causing the code. Could be big, could be small. So that's my first theory, that they're working up some massive repair that needs to be done and will cost thousands. The other is that they are just putting me off while they do other jobs because I'm out of town and my son's a college student, we're likely not repeat business. Or, I guess they could be telling the truth and this is just a lengthy CYA process to make sure they do the right thing.
Does this sound normal? I've owned cars for going on 30 years now and never had a dealer tell me they need to work with the manufacturer to figure out what's going on. Maybe I've just been lucky. Generally, I feel like I'm gonna get bent over even harder than I did when I decided to take it to a dealer to begin with....

I can’t answer the question about the Ford engineering nonsense, but a wastegate issue could absolutely cause a boost issue if it is sticking closed, etc. Not something you want happening in a turbocharged car.

Driving behind a new Honda Civic Sport, and I really like this design. Front, rear, shape, wheels… real sharp.
After looking online, you can only get it in the 158hp 2.0L engine, not the 180hp 1.5L turbocharged engine that you can get the EX in. So dumb.

Kia Sportage hybrid handled like a champ in the bad weather. Got home from Cleveland and my driveway (which is pretty darn steep) was a sheet of ice. It climbed right up, no problem. Was very impressed with it.
