GE is making it harder and harder for me to justify overpaying for their groceries.

This is straight horse doodoo. I use advantage pay and get 2 perks per gallon, so usually every 3-4 months I'm able to sneak about $2 off a gallon. Lately the advantage pay has been crap (like 10c off, way down from it's normal 30c). This may seal the deal for me to move to another type of fuel perk like a cashback credit card or something similar.

Amounts to about $150-200 in free fuel annually. Plus the advantage pay probably saves me $7-8 a fill up of which which probably we have 3 to 4 a month depending on how much I drive.

We dumped them years ago and haven't looked back. Our weekly shopping trip is Walmart, Shop 'n Save.

So I just bought a car I probably won’t need. No test drive, just based on a few pics and a video.
Which means I’m definitely selling the Vivio.

Update: Vivio sold, or at the very least I have a buyer lined up for it.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/155867183068
Vivio will be officially gone as of this evening. Dropping it off with the new owner and we'll do paperwork later this week.

Sent a check for the other car yesterday. It should be here some time after Thanksgiving.

Yessssssssssssssss.

The US compliant bumpers are a damn shame, yeah. My E24 M6 had them.

Yep, I don't shop there either. Not that it's convenient to me really either but the gift cards and fuel perks that come with them are nice.

We’ve been weening off Giant Ripoff for quite some time. But there are always a couple things there that you can’t get anywhere else. We may be close to done now that our daughter prefers our yogurt over her kid yogurt.

You make your own? My dad did that in the 70's when I was a kid. I think he used powdered milk. It was good. Very sour.

No I don’t. But I do want to try that some day. My mom makes her own and my kids like it

We only go to Giant Eagle for small quick trips and I still never seem to get out of there for less than $50. Major trips Mrs. F will go to Walmart but if I'm going, we cross the state line over to Meijer in Youngstown or Kroger in Weirton. We tie it in to a trip to the winery/brewery by Star Lake or other shopping in Boardman. No perks that are really worth anything for us but the prices are better, especially Kroger which gives personalized coupons for things they know you buy frequently.

We also go to Trader Joe's often, but you can't really do a major grocery trip there, and we end up spending a bunch of money on weird stuff that sounds good but nobody ends up eating.

I've said for years Giant Eagle needs a major competitor to come in. Kroger left due to union issues in the 80s, Meijer does not seem interested in crossing the state line, and Wegman's, also expensive but great stores which make up for it, has basically said they are focusing on growing markets where there's an expanding pie, not stagnant markets like Pittsburgh and Cleveland where they will just fight for a piece of a stagnant pie.

We do have a decent Shop n Save and a small Foodland but neither of those are major competitors.

I might need to look into Walmart for my main grocery trips. My wife already shops at Aldi on a weekly basis but our core grocery purchase is still Giant Eagle. I'm a curbside addict and can't fathom going back to walking around inside a grocery store. I've never tried Walmarts version of curbside, though.

The Giant Eagle closest to my house is shitty and doesn't even have curbside, so I have to drive to one that is farther away. Both of the alternate Giant Eagles that I go to are within a quarter mile of a Wal-Mart.

The thing that gets me about Walmart is their great value perishable items all seem to be of inferior quality than the smaller store brands and usually at a similar price. For example I prefer Hillandale Farms Shredded cheese, sugardale bacon, etc. Their deli is also trash. The only fresh meat I buy there is chicken which is usually decent but I always buy the perdue brand and occasionally a small grocer by me has them at a better deal. I like Cash Saver which I believe is basically a shop n save with slightly better prices and lower standards for customer service and tidiness lol

I felt what I assume was a misfire when I took my daughter to school this morning. Really only felt it while idling, even though the idle was stable. Fast forward two hours and I don’t feel it now. It was obvious before, so now I don’t know what to think. No codes ever popped up, either.

Welp, I guess I know for sure. Misfire on cylinder 5 on the way home from the dentist, so I guess I'll be calling the shop now.

Well there’s your problem:

That’s the second coil that I’ve had just die like this, and both times on the same cylinder.

The coil is fused to the damn wall, so I’m going to leave my car with the shop to take care of it. It’s never easy anymore.

Showed this to a friend of mine, and he asked if they got those bumpers from an old set of bumper cars at Kennywood.
Yessssssssssssssss.

I knew about the second link but I'll check out the first when I get home. I did my shipping paperwork this morning, so it probably won't be here for about two weeks. Still kinda nervous about sending money for a car that I never drove or inspected myself, but we'll see how this goes. He did send me videos of the car running and did a walkaround, so that's at least something I guess.

Kinda excited about this car. I've wanted one for awhile but the prices on the 2002's have gone through the roof over the last few years. Was really surprised that I was able to get one for under $10k shipped and was quite happy to find one that was rust free and a manual. It needs carb work and a shifter bushing, but I can probably get those things done for a grand. I might upgrade the carb on it to a 38/38 since everybody says it more fun to drive with it.

I already started looking for compatible bumpers. The euro bumpers are much smaller but are $200-400 per bumper. I've seen some people do bumper deletes but I also don't like how unfinished it looks without them. But this is low on the list at the moment because of the two things mentioned above.
