Crazy wind in Charlotte right now. Feels like the day before a hurricane. Not a cloud in the sky, but 30+ mph winds

Hell of a time to realize that the weatherproofing on the front door needs redone.

No power since 2 here. It’s odd because half our neighborhood had power and the other half doesn’t. It’s not one side of the street vs the other either. Just random houses

Yep. Saw that coming last night so I made sure to open them this morning when it was still in the twenties. Still had to pull pretty hard, but at least they all popped open.Just went to get presents out of the car now that the coast is clear and the doors are frozen shut.

WD-40 as a preventative measure and or to loosen the locks up afterward? I've seen both online.Yep. My doors are frozen at the seals as the lock/alarm is disabled. My trunk is frozen at the lock (the fob doesn't unlock it anymore).

I've used fluid film for both. I suppose WD-40 would also work. Back when keys were all metal, I'd heat it up with a lighter - usually worked.WD-40 as a preventative measure and or to loosen the locks up afterward? I've seen both online.

The place I play indoor golf took 3 hours to get the door open today. His key snapped in the lock. Then he had to go to the auto parts store and buy windshield delicer and apply it around the frame.
I could't get into my garage today because the 9v battery that runs the exterior keypad froze up.

@Willie Kool, I've learned a lot about seiches in the last 24 hours. Really interesting and another scary aspect of mother nature.

I wouldn't use WD-40 for locks. It will eventually gum up because WD-40 was always originally designed to gum up. I've often seen powdered graphite as a recommended lubricant for locks. If my own locks needed some lube, I'd use the same Hornady One Shot gun cleaner/lube that I use on all of my guns. It's a spray lube that quickly evaporates to leave a film of "dry" lube behind, and it's designed to lube small, fiddly mechanical parts.I've used fluid film for both. I suppose WD-40 would also work. Back when keys were all metal, I'd heat it up with a lighter - usually worked.WD-40 as a preventative measure and or to loosen the locks up afterward?
