Could be a combination of things. I mentioned that I saw the use of 'high-altitude inflatable tech' by China dates to a scientific paper from a couple years ago, so this could just be a new program coming up to speed.

The things aren't particularly easy to detect; the big one last week was first spotted visually by passengers in am airliner. But they're easy-ish to track once their location is established. And now that a larger vehicle was downed all of a sudden multiple other smaller vehicles are getting the same treatment. Could be unrelated, but it also could be owing to intelligence recovered from the larger vehicle last week that makes the smaller ones easier to initially detect.

If you don't want to click through to the story, it was a joint US-Canuck operation, but the craft was actually downed by a USAF F-22. The Raptor is still undefeated against balloons.

1) china is **** with us and using this a distraction for a much larger offensive

2) we had very specific filter we were searching for things in the sky and have opened the aperture more with the first balloon and now are seeing these more frequently

3) the aliens are testing us to see what we are capable of

4) the aliens are peacefully trying to communicate with us and we are their **** up and they are like well those people are ****

the 4 most likely scenarios in my mind
