I'll ask again.

Other than for politics "here is an example of a wife of a GOP politician acting badly" what does Laura Welch have to do with Ted Kennedy?

There was NO SUSPICION of drinking in the Kennedy incident. IT WAS 100% a FACT

Kennedy was hosting a party at his residence, not at a bar. Was he drunk? Probably.

Kennedy went back to his house after the wreck and told 2 other men what had happened. They returned to the scene and tried to rescue her but failed. Kennedy told them not to call the police and or other partygoers.

Kennedy then swam back to Martha's Vineyard (rather than take the ferry), went to a hotel and slept until morning.

Some fishermen saw the car in the water the next morning and called the police.

Just clearing some things up. Kennedy's actions in this case were deplorable and he should have absolutely been charged with a crime. I don't think anyone here would say otherwise.

The righteous indignation from the Left over the bad behavior of one or two individuals at the Trump rallies is utterly nauseating. Remember when mobs of black protesters were looting storefronts, burning cars and shops, and we were repeatedly told that it was only a "few" bad apples? Or after every single Islamic terror attack, we hear about how Islam is mostly a religion of peace, and these are out-of-the-ordinary extremist Muslims, and that we should stop being Islamophobes?

One person yells out something at a Trump rally? TRUMP VOTERS ARE RACIST BIGOTS. I also saw (incredibly) the story about that local ACLU director that had to resign after calling for Trump supporters to be shot. Again, these words coming from an organization that purports to defend our civil liberties. Keep on trolling Trump, the histrionics on the Left are so fun.

It wasn't at his residence, it was a bar set up at a private cottage.

There's no question of Kennedys actions or sobriety.

The conversation started with a discussion about a movie about Ted getting away with homicide. I quipped that the sequel should be about Laura.

That's as deep as it was, until someone got outraged. Someone went nuts because a Libertarian said there was a parallel between both a Dem and a Rep getting away with negligent homicide. That's it.

Party affiliation has nothing to do with it. (I'm the first to say Dick Chaney should be tried for war crimes)

Depraved indifference seems to be the missing piece. (Negligent homicide doesn't begin to cover what Kennedy did)

Anyone can exercise bad judgement and make a horrible mistake.

Only a sociopath leaves a young woman to die a horrible death by drowning, in order to protect their political aspirations.

That's what's always bothered me about the Kennedy incident. Ever since I first watched Cronkite report the story.

I don't disagree with any of that.

My only connection between the two was that neither were held accountable, except to themselves. I'm willing to bet it bothered Laura more than Ted, though.
