Well, the FDIC doesn't do anything here cause it's a UK subsidiary. And HSBC now owns those assets and liabilities.

I missed that part. Just the UK arm of it.

Clients and loan income?

We also don't know if the SVB UK thing was in the same bad shape as the parent. Banks spend money to get deposits and customers, so probably quite a deal for HSBC

I do disagree that this isn't a bailout for the bank executives. Knowing that they can **** up as hard as they want and get to hit the reset button is a bailout, if not in the direct financial sense.
