I'm just curious how the bible can be inspired by a song released in 1984.

Saw an article a few weeks back that said Millenials were less likely to consider themselves religious, with numbers dropping every year. I imagine that stuff like this probably helps guide those decisions, on top of the fact that people are tired of having religious beliefs forced onto them at every turn. That's what swayed me away long ago, and why I will not raise my daughter to follow any religion.

Is it a picture book version?
It's a pop-up book. Imagine the crucifixion.

Will WDW still be around in ten years?

Will Ron DeSantis still be governor?

Do any of the articles mention that the two most antagonistic members of the new tourism board resigned within a few days of each other this month with no notice or reason? And that they were replaced with..... friendlier voices who have already agreed to work under a development proposal that was approved in the Reedy Creek days, a proposal that largely mirrors the plan that was 'nullified' in the settlement?

DeSantis gets to chirp about 'vindication' and revel in the adoration of low-wattage types, Disney gets nearly all of what it was seeking in the first place. Win-win. Good day for all.

Did Disney get to keep control of Reedy Creek? Did it get to keep that last-minute "Development Agreement" it pushed through that neutered the new board "until 21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, King of England, living as of the date of this declaration." No and No.

Did DeSantis get everything he wanted. No. Did the Mouse and its army of lawyers beat the snot out of the Florida government, as so many (including folks on here) predicted? Also no.

Joe Lieberman, gone, and good riddance.
Had to check if either he was dead or withdrawing his name from consideration for the No Labels ticket. Thankfully, the former.

And good riddance, he was integral in ensuring that obamacare was a trash healthcare compromise.

I need a TL:DR of this whole Disney thing. Seems like a whole bunch of time/money/energy wasted and nothing really changes.

The DeSantis administration in Florida got mad at Disney for being woke and for opposing the law that opponents have very inaccurately labeled the "Don't Say Gay" law. So Florida rescinded Disney's control over a special district that had been created to encompass Disney World and the surrounding area. Disney basically ran the government there, but DeSantis took that away and put the district under a board where the governor appoints the members. Before it was replaced, the outgoing, Disney-run board signed a contract that basically gave control back to Disney, with a clause that said the contract would last "until 21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, King of England, living as of the date of this declaration."

Litigation ensued. Disney sued Florida and argued that it had been retaliated against for its speech, and Florida and Disney sued each other over the validity of the changeover to the new governing board and the whole "King Charles" clause that the outgoing board signed. Disney's retaliation lawsuit was dismissed, and while Disney appealed, the parties reached a settlement on appeal where basically nothing changed. The second lawsuit just settled, with Disney agreeing that the "King Charles" stuff is null and void.

So they settled? Disney got what it wanted while keeping the board? What are the details of the settlement?

Disney did not get what it wanted. It wanted its "King Charles" contract to hold up where the new, DeSantis-appointed board basically had no power. The "King Charles" contract is null and void, the DeSantis-appointed board is fully in charge, and Disney does not get its special district back.

It sounds like Disney did get some minor concessions, such as the new board agreeing not to “prohibit or impede” long-term environmental permits that had previously been granted to Disney, but this was mostly a Flordia / DeSantis win and a Disney loss.

I feel like putting “king Charles” stuff in an agreement kinda makes it seem like Disney kinda knew it wouldn’t hold up.

DeSantis is the epitome of a big government Republican, I'm legitimately surprised Shyster is carrying the water for him.

I'm more just dunking on all of the internet lawyers who thought that of course Disney would win.

And I do think this should be a lesson for all of the lefties who hate those big nasty rich corporations but love it when the government does stuff. All of the Mouse's billions of dollars and elite lawyers couldn't beat the Florida government.

Disney now has an agreement with the great state of Florida assuring Reedy Creek's raison d'être is realized through the rest of DeSantis' time in office without having to incur the operational costs. With zero dead British monarchs.

Also neat is the two new board members are not merely less hostile, they've worked or advocated for Disney in the past.
