I basically use My citizens bank credit card for most everything.. 1.8% cash back on all things, then when Discover is running 5% on certain categories I will use that instead. I have a Capital one quicksilver that is 1.5% back and they sometimes run deals too on certain things.

I know it's a pain, but it does pay off to use specific cards for specific categories.

Chase Sapphire Preferred: Bulk of my spending goes here for the Chase UR. 5x travel, 3x dining, 3x streaming services, 1x everything else. 1.25x redemption via the Chase Travel Portal, which is huge
Chase Freedom Flex: (Chase UR) 5x rotating categories, 5x travel, 3x dining, 3x drugstore, 1x everything else
Discover It: (Cash back) 5x rotating categories
Chase Ink Cash: (Chase UR) 5x gas, 5x internet/cell
Costco Visa: 2% Costco, 4% Costco gas, 3% restaurants
Amazon Prime Visa: (Cash back) 5% @ Amazon and Whole Foods. Also has 5% on Chase Travel, 2% gas stations, 2% restaurants, 1% everything else

Considering that I redeemed $1090 in rewards in 2022, it's working out well for me.

I do have the Amazon card too for Amazon stuff we buy (which is a lot) because it kicks back 5%. I just set everything to autopay on my cc's and don't even think about it.

I use the AmEx Blue Cash Preferred card for gas and groceries. 6% back on groceries up to $6,000 per year and 3% back on gas. There is an annual fee, but I earn back way more than that.

I think I want to put mine in Robinhood at 4.9%. Is there a reason you wouldn't want it there?

**** Robinhood, that’s why. I closed my account with them and wouldn’t use them again. This is for liquid cash, and their 4.9% program just sounds dumb.

Time to cash in that 2021 I-Bond purchase. Good timing, as my local credit union has a 12-month CD @ 5.11% APY right now. Hope that sticks around for another month, because my 2022 I-Bond will be cashed in then.

My 2022 bond still has another month at the 6.x and then I'm probably dumping after 3 months with the new rate.

Vanguard started a cash management program at 4.7 so I moved some money there as that beats both Marcus and my PNC account at 4.3.

Which cash management program is this? I’ve never heard of it.

Anyone use Ally? Particularly their savings bucketing feature? Supposedly they have a 4.5% savings account right now. I have a five-figure balance I hope to grow into a six-figure balance in the next 24-30 months. Right now I am using a credit union money market account that is at 2.5% which is good but not optimal.
The other option is to stay with the CU and do 12mo CDs at 5%. But that means the new deposits won't enjoy that rate during the year.

I don't need frills, just want to send a bulk of my paycheck to a high yield account and then worry about accessing it in ~2-3 years.

I can’t speak to Ally, but I don’t see a 4.5% rate on their site? Marcus’s rate is currently 4.30%, and they have basically increased their rates along with Ally (even more so over the last year). A bunch of us here use them and recommend them.

In a somewhat similar boat and just started researching different savings accounts. Want something where I can access it quickly and easily if need be and…that’s pretty much it
