“‘Cats’ was off-the-scale all wrong,” says Lloyd Webber. “There wasn’t really any understanding of why the music ticked at all. I saw it and I just thought, ‘Oh, God, no.’ It was the first time in my 70-odd years on this planet that I went out and bought a dog. So the one good thing to come out of it is my little Havanese puppy.”

That puppy has been a constant companion of Lloyd Webber’s during lockdown. They have grown so attached that he’s even figured out a way to bring the dog to New York the next time he travels to the city.

“I wrote off and said I needed him with me at all times because I’m emotionally damaged and I must have this therapy dog,” says Lloyd Webber. “The airline wrote back and said, ‘Can you prove that you really need him?’ And I said ‘Yes, just see what Hollywood did to my musical “Cats.”’ Then the approval came back with a note saying, ‘No doctor’s report required.’”

The movie 'Cats' did not ruin the musical, it revealed it.

Can't wait to see how mad people get over this. I'm pretty excited about the movie.

I know liking Halloween III is the cool thing to do and yeah maybe going the anthology route would’ve been fun, but Season of the Witch ain’t it. I’ll take the weird niece storyline of 4 & 5 over Silver Shamrock any day.

Blasphemer.

Weds 31 days of Halloween entry was Summer of '84. Last night was There's Someone Inside Your House.

Dumbest f***ing thing I ever sat through. My GF in college was a headcase. Obsessed with cats. So when we went to London together I had to spend about 80% of my net worth in tickets to this. I didn’t know anything about it. I couldn’t believe how awful and pointless it was.

Black Widow was not great. Action scenes and characters were all pretty cool, but this felt like a series crammed into two hours. The tone was all over the place.

It's one positively tremendous song cloaked in 125 minutes of wtf.

Watched the first Scream tonight. My wife somehow never saw it. Still as good as I remembered. Paced perfectly...and just a damn good movie overall. Holds up incredibly well.

I recommended this book in the other thread and will plug it here too. A masterpiece.

I think “The Replacements” is firmly in the classic sports movie comedy tier. It’s def not the best but it is one that gets watched whenever it’s on TV. On paper you have star power with,

Reeves and Hackman headlining.

Then the power of character actors in this film is awesome,

Orlando Jones
John Favreau
Jack Warden
Faizon Love
Art Lafleur

Memorable lines/scenes
Puking in the huddle
Wirery
Ole ole ole ole
Dondeska
Coach, it looks lime I jacked off an elephant

I def think it’s in that collection of classics. What say you guys.

It’s awesome, but how did you say all of that without mentioning prime Brooke Langton?

I'm watching the remake. I'm guessing it was 89 or so. It's super fun.

Yinz should come out to BlobFest in Phoenixville next year. It's a really fun time. The famous scene of the crowd running out of the theater was filmed at the Colonial there in 1958. Next year will hopefully be in person again soon and they will reenact the run out like they do every year.

The whole movie was filmed in an around Valley Forge.

Watched The Guilty on Netflix. Jake Gyllenhaal as a suspended cop working an LAPD 911 center, very tense 90 minutes spent in that call center building. Definitely worth your while.
It was so easy to hate his character early on.
