When I was a teenager and just getting into that sort of stuff I watched their show (every Sunday, iirc), and it was just the absolute worst when they would agree on something.

Ricky Stanicky on Prime was a disastrous, hilarious, juvenile Peter Farrelly movie with Zac Efron and John Cena with William H Macy.

Ebert is the only critic’s opinion I value. Not that I always agree because sometimes he’s way off but there’s not really any critic that comes close to him

I watched The Beekeeper last night. Super dumb flick. That said, I could watch Jason Statham kick everyone's ass in anything.
I concur. So dumb, but fun. I really liked the premise of going after malware scammers who steal money from old people.

Let's also remember that Roger Ebert died in 2013.

Family movie night last night was Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, and 20-something years later, it’s still comedy gold.

Your daughter is ten, right? Mine is too and I was debating if Pet Detective would be a kosher watch

11, and Pet Detective is probably the safer bet if you fast forward through two short scenes (Ace's 'reward' for returning the dog, then Ace and Monica's bed scene).

Good call... The reveal with Finkle/Einhorn came to mind as well lol.

I think we are going to roll with Temple of Doom today. She got through Raiders last month.

The movie where the guy has his still-beating heart ripped from his chest on camera: "Let's roll"

The movie that verbally indicates a character is trans: "I have questions"

lol

Wasn't the joke that they all had had relations with her before the reveal.

The joke is that trans people gross normies out.

There are like 20 cops in the reveal scene, and I didn't recall if they all had 'relations' w Einhorn. But there's a cutaway of the stupid dolphin being grossed out. When Ace finds out and gets physically ill, burns his clothes, and takes a rape shower. After a kiss.

Wait, that's definitely the joke... It's because she's trans. I'm not saying we should judge it on today's standards but in retrospect, the reaction to Finkle is Einhorn is pretty transphobic, which was definitely more acceptable at the time.

it’s complicated, and not that the film had was thinking about it like this, but Finkle wasn’t trans imo. He “transitioned” only to commit a criminal conspiracy

not that that justifies the jokes at the reveal’s expense which does come off as transphobic but I never got the sense that Einhorn was a real manifestation of Finkle being trans

Disagree.

The joke is that they were deceived. And that she was a slut. The idea of it being transphobic is retroactive cultural relativism.

A straight person being tricked into kissing someone of the same sex should illicit a negative reaction.
