She was very proud of how she performed and the compliments the other coaches were giving her. She was a little worried about having somebody get past her twice, but I told her that they also wanted to see how you recover, and both times she chased the player down and either got the ball back or kept her to the outside until the ball went out of bounds. Her coach relayed to me after the tryout that everything he heard was positive, so that’s one worry off our backs.

Both of my boys are going to try out for the higher travel soccer league. My oldest has a chance but he continually gets passed over by players already in the higher leagues. I’m having him try goalie this time. He’s pretty good at it so hopefully they take him but also let him play in the field
Younger son is not as athletic or competitive, but with the way they do leagues by birth year, he’s usually one of the older kids and much taller than most kids. So he may make it purely based on his size and speed.

Good stuff! Seeing your kids work hard and find success is such a great feeling. She was very proud of how she performed and the compliments the other coaches were giving her. Got the message earlier that my daughter made the team, so she'll be thrilled when I tell her later this afternoon.

Man I have a 4 year old on my teeball team with legitimate anger issues. It's wild. I'm talking this kid will get insane angry if I tell him anything "hey you played pitchers mound last inning go play second base". Today I removed him from the field, forcibly, cause he wouldn't leave a girl on the team alone hitting and pinching her. On the way off he said "what what you gonna tell on me?!" when I went to tell his dad why he was being removed.

We have a pretty large driveway and my daughter and the neighbor love doing chalk on it. They've been doing it for years now and still love it. Naturally, we have a whole bunch of nubbins of chalk pieces that are hard to draw with so they just sink to the bottom of the bin of chalk. Yesterday, we took some ziplock baggies and a rubber mallet and smashed the chalk nubbins into a powder, poured them into a cupcake tin and added water. Grab some of the cheapest paint brushes you can find and boom: chalk paint. It was a lot of fun:
On the left was the cupcake tin that got poured out so all the colors blended and mixed together. It had chunks of chalk in it so it looked like barf, which of course my daughter and the neighbor boy turned into unicorn barf:
Anyways, if you have a bunch of chalk nubs, give this a go. We were out there for a solid hour, hour and a half, just painting and having fun.

Daughter was accidentally elbowed in the mouth at school today playing on the playground, and now her front tooth is a little loose. Taking her to the dentist on Tuesday just to make sure nothing else is wrong, and I hope that her having braces just means it’ll tighten up on its own in a few weeks.

Just added my 15 year old to our car insurance policy. It was $533 a month for the three of us with three cars, now with 4 drivers and 3 cars, it will be $740 a month. Good times.
Why do my kids need to drive?

I have 5 of us and 5 cars and pay $575 a month, although I also get a pay in full discount off that because I pay up front for six months.
One person and one car will be leaving shortly since my oldest has moved to NY, so it will soon be decreasing (although I bet the decrease on my policy will be less than he pays.
