Kind of piggy backing off mikey's 98-99 Pens thread. What was the first championships you remember watching and understanding. Mine were:

NFL - Super Bowl XX - Bears vs Patriots
MLB - 1986 WS - Mets vs Red Sox
NHL - 1990 SCF - Oilers vs Bruins (I watched the 88-89 playoffs until Pens got eliminated but stopped after)
NBA - 1987 NBAF - Lakers vs Celtics
NCAA FB - 1986 - PSU vs Miami
NCAA BB - 1989 - UNLV vs Duke

Add any others you want.

1991 Pens

I was 10 years old. My brothers left after the second period to drive to Pittsburgh to party.

1994 rangers cup win.

I was 5 and cried because I thought there was literally no more hockey due to the upcoming strike. My dad had to call from Atlanta to explain there would indeed be more hockey.

Super Bowl X

Cliff Harris is still the reason why I hate the Cowboys. Such a vivid memory of my grandfather and uncle freaking out when he 'thanked' Gerela; might actually be one of my earliest memories, period.

All I remember from the first couple 70's Super Bowls was paying with my cousin. That and the Steelers won.

grew up as the second youngest of 6 kids and was only 8 in 2000, so I didn't really get to choose what to watch

besides, I think I'd rather watch Blues Clues back then

Twins world series in 1991. I was a huge Kirby Puckett fan. My step-dad was from Minnesota so we actually watched it even though we were living in NC at the time.

The first Cup I remember was the 1994 Rangers. I moved to PA just in time to see the Islanders eliminate the '93-93 Pens, though. *whomp whomp* Which means I lived in PA the maximum amount of time it would take for the Pens to win a cup after winning the back to back cups, but not having witnessed the first two.

First Super Bowl I remember watching was Redskins/Raiders from I think 1984?

World Series was Royals/Cardinals in '85.

I didn't know anything about the NHL until the 1988 Edmonton Oilers title and that was only because it was the first time the Charleston Gazette ever picked up an actual hockey story that was more than just a listing in the scores section.

I fell in love with soccer watching the 1986 World Cup. I think that was the first one to receive serious television play in these United States.

Was that the World Series where Ozzie Smith did a back flip before one of the games? If so...

World Series '85, if not Ozzie flip, Muck the Fets in '86
NHL must have been Calgary over Boston in '89 since Calgary is my backup team. Loved that team
Super Bowl XVII Redskins vs. Dolphins. Remember rooting for Dan Marino
NBA who cares. Only ones I remember watching were the Bulls championships. I always rooted against the Bulls, hoping Mario would ultimately end up with more championships than Jordan. Oh well...

My first hockey related memory is Lemieux dekeing Casey out of his jock in the SCF. That's what made me a hockey fan at the tender age of 10 or so. Remember the Pens winning the cup that year.

NFL -- I'm a 49ers fan, I don't really remember the Montana SB's was too young, I do vividly remember the Steve Young led SB team in 94 though. Fun times.

NBA -- the Jordan Bulls when they first started winning titles is the earliest I remember, but not a huge NBA fan.

I have the vaguest of memories of the Switzer OU national champs from 85 but I have an incredibly vivid memory of testaverde getting picked off to end that 86 game. Down to where I was, where I was sitting, everything
