Does anyone have a paper shredder they can recommend? Looking around it seems like there are a lot of nearly disposable ones at the $50 price point and then a jump to $300 units. This is just something my wife wants so she can shred bills and medical stuff.

I'm spoiled by the barrel-sized crosscut shredders I had at work.

I've had this one for 3 years, and it has served its purpose well. I shred credit cards, paper, etc. and it has never jammed.

For $35, I'm not sure that you can beat it.

I don't have recommendations regarding a certain model but make sure to get one that can handle a lot of pages at once. My wife ruined one of the cheaper shredders by trying to shred too much at once. Also, make sure that the bin can easily be removed without shredded paper ending up all over the place.

I can confirm that mine shreds 5 pages at once without an issue. It says max 8, but I've never had that much to run through at once. If you'd like, I'll test this for you.

Nah, that's fine. I mean she's been stockpiling all this paper since two jobs ago, but once that gets worked through it should be a trickle.

Thanks. :thumb:

Too late, confirmed 8 pages went through just fine. Honestly, could probably have gone at least 10.

I've done this. But even in a massive inferno in our fire pit, not all the papers burned. They were shielded by the thickness of the papers around them. The pro move would be to shred them then burn it.

We had a lance corporal burn himself pretty badly in Afghanistan using a burn barrel. We would do the burn and stir the documents up with a long piece of rebar. He set it down and was bullshitting with someone. Picked it back up by the wrong end.

After my dad died, I was trying to get rid of his old golf-related magazines. He had hundreds. No one wanted them and it would have taken 5+ trash bags to hold them all, so I got the bright idea to burn them. What a nightmare. I'm pretty sure there are still charred pieces of magazine pages drifting around in the woods behind my house.

Kid sick, unexpectedly staying at home. Not owning a turkey we are having NY Strips and Stuffed Pork Chops. I think I actually like that better.

We're usually prime rib on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Smaller crowd this year at Thanksgiving so I decided to do a whole tenderloin. Back to prime rib for Christmas.
