I would never want to order delivery in this weather. And if I had to, I'd leave a larger tip to compensate for the driver being out in their likely POS car in sub-zero temperatures.

$11 tip? If anything is going on that bad to need an $11 tip, I just wouldn't order. I'm a big tipper, but $11 tip for a couple of pizzas...no chance.
It was either $14 or $4. I didn't have change. My total was $26. I had $30 ready because I expected my total to be around $21. Instead of giving $30 I gave $40. I didn't feel like leaving the house..

My wife is in that “we shouldn’t order because then they have to be out in the cold” camp, but that’s just stupid. Delivery drivers need to earn a living, too.

Scrooge.
Big time. I’m a big time tipper - both in amount frequency. I tip everybody. It’s not tipping I believe in, it’s over-tipping.

Yeah. Me not ordering means they don't get paid.

would be ashamed to order delivery in this weather.

I used to be a delivery driver, I would have much prefered no having to drive around shitty roads, people ordering is justifying the owners for keeping the place open when you should not be sending people out on the road like that

I got my new (second) gun safe delivered today. The delivery was scheduled last week before the weather was known, and I was honestly pretty surprised that the freight company was still operating today. It was an adventure for the driver to get his truck up my hill and backed into my driveway. It took multiple attempts to back the truck in because it kept slipping on the snow and ice, and it took both of us to get the safe out of the truck and into the garage because the pallet jack's wheels were offering no traction with the low temperature. I tipped him $60.

For what it's worth I'm fairly confident the owner of the shop was also the one who delivered the pizza.

The only way I could imagine ordering delivery in the weather you guys are dealing with now would be in the event of a power failure or something. And the driver is getting nothing less than a100% tip, full stop.

It’s 0° with a windchill of -25° right now. I would’ve charged him $20 to deliver. Mac go get your own damn pizza!
Yea I would never order delivery in this cold weather

The real story is mac paying cash to the delivery driver. I haven't done that in like fifteen years. Respect

I always tip in cash. I just so happened to have enough cash to cover the pizza too. I always seem to have cash on hand this time of year.

It was a wind-chill of 25 to 30 below here. Not bad snow by any means but beng outside for more than 30 seconds was not fun and the roads around here weren't great even in the evening.

Ordering delivery in that weather is a pretty shitty thing to do IMO.

Not saying Mac is a bad person but not something I would do and if I did I'd be tipping like 20$ bare minimum.

Changes things a bit, I can only speak to my experiences as a delivery driver. Also, there are crazy drivers that like when the weather is like this cause they expect better tips, these are the drivers that are what I would consider “professional” who like do all the things one should do to make their car perform in such conditions. I was never that way, I was like, my car is a pos, so I don’t care if I get dinged up.

And, I am also not a great tipper (I think mostly from an independence standpoint, I don’t like paying someone to do something that I can do myself, so I don’t like valet parking, or getting food delivered, or countless other service economy items. So partly cheap for sure, but I don’t think solely cheap.

That said, I am generally inclined to go pick up my food in all cases. But, ordering delivery in these conditions is a non-starter cause I don’t know if someone is out there risking an accident for like maybe $100 the whole night

We always buy scratch offs for our stockings. Usually, one of us wins a few bucks or a free ticket. I won $40 and a free ticket, and my wife is currently at *checks notes* $1003 and a free ticket. Won a grand on a $2 scratch off.

Woman wins $175,000 lottery jackpot at white elephant gift exchange

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/wom ... 33793.html
In the party's gift exchange with her coworkers, Janes originally received a $25 TJ Maxx gift card. But someone else "stole" the gift card, meaning that Janes would have to pick another gift. While she was disappointed about losing the TJ Maxx gift card, she opted for another gift: $25 in scratch-off tickets, the Kentucky Lottery said.

Because Janes "stole" the scratch-off tickets in the white elephant exchange, they were no longer available for anyone else to steal again. Her coworkers soon encouraged her to scratch off the tickets at the party.

With her first ticket, Janes won $50. She then moved to the second one: a Kentucky Lottery "Hit The Jackpot" ticket.

As she continued to scratch, Janes revealed a win in all 15 spots on the ticket – winning the lottery game’s $175,000 top prize, the Kentucky Lottery said.
