Do you still have your old toys?

Postby Miami Vice » Wed May 06, 2015 9:14 am

I have a shelf in my [hopefully] future bar room, and I thought of sticking a bunch of my old action figures on it. My mother saved everything, convinced toys with all the paint worn off would still be worth big bucks.

So I wondered if anyone else has their Kenner Star Wars figures, Silverhawks, Barbis, etc.

I pretty much have my legos and thats' about it. My wife is a different story, peewee herman characters, rainbow bright dolls, white build your own dinosaur bones in briefcase thing, everything star wars related, etc. Her parents kept all of their toys and keep it in a room for our kids/me when we visit. It's glorious.

I had a lot of the original Star Wars stuff from Kenner, but it was all unboxed and seriously used and wouldn't be worth anything.

I have all of my Nintendo stuff.

My mom luckily saved all of my Star Wars stuff, and some of my favorite He-Man, GI Joe, and Transformer stuff. Unfortunately, the bulk of the latter 3 were sold at garage sales during my teenage years, but I do have some of it. But Star Wars, I have every single piece that I did not destroy still.

I also have all of my garbage pail kids if you want to count that.

I owned one thing that is legitimately valuable:

It lists in the box on ebay for a few thousand dollars, but mine is in shambles.

I kept my Lego and comic book collection. I gave the Lego bricks to my sons, who use them (and the many, many, more they've received over the years) almost daily. For me, that's really impressive. I still buy and build the occasional Lego set, such as the AT-AT I got for my 41st birthday last year.

My brother has our Star Wars stuff (original Kenner), but most of it was in bad shape. G.I. Joe (the small figures from the 1980s) were destroyed by M-80s and soldering irons...

I have all that stuff too. I also have most of my Nintendo stuff. I have my favorite stuffed animal as well - a puffalump bear.

Have lots of baseball cards and Pirate memorabilia. Still had my hot wheels and matchboxes (some of which were Columbia's like that bad ass Datsun 240 or 280?), but now my ex has them and I probably will never see them again.

Oh, and I also have the entire collection of the NFL huddles. All are in pretty good shape too. Some of them are worth a few hundred.

We tried making a movie with the toys, and wanted to do a 'camera test' to make sure models would explode dramatically with the judicious application of firecrackers. Unfortunately, after a wildly successful trial run, we realized that the camera test model was also the composite model, the lighting model and the hero closeup model. :face:

Not really toys, but I have all my records that I started buying since I was about 15 (1000 or so).

We decided to decorate our bar room in an 80s pop culture theme, so the action figures will fit in nicely next to my Fiero memorabilia and Miami Vice vinyl soundtracks.

There's a box of GI Joe body parts at my moms house. That's about it.

If I looked really hard in my mom's basement I could probably find a bunch of crap.

Vintage video games, mostly. When I started collecting them seriously I took all the ones I grew up with and consolidated them at my Mom's house, and then my Dad's house burnt down taking away all the rest of them.

I had a pretty large Rubbermaid tote of Legos. When I retrieved it from my Mothers about a year ago about 3/4 of them are gone. She gave them away over the years. It's a pretty sore spot for me, especially since giving them to my child when I had one was a pretty frequent topic of conversation.

I have a couple of boxes of stuff from my parents' house that has some toys in it. I have a few stuffed animals on my bookshelves that no one is allowed to touch under severe penalty.
