Unfortunately, I must have rushed my measurements in onshape, because I didn't account for enough space between the bottom of the pipe and the top of the detector. It's long enough now that I can't fit it on my print bed in one piece, so I had to redesign it in two pieces. I'm going to just use simple square wedges to connect the two, since this thing weighs next to nothing, and I don't want to get fancy.

The hanger came out nice.

I heard that my niece's favorite character is Stitch, so I printed a gift for her. The 3D model used wasn't the greatest, but I lowered infill a bit too much which resulted in a broken support, and in turn some broken/missing teeth. She'll still love it, though. Oh, and my LED light randomly shut off towards the end of the print.

going to look at a CNC router this weekend. Anything specific things or red flags that I should look for on it?

My wife has all of these tiny hair color shampoo bottles in the rack in our shower, and they all fall over and ****, preventing other stuff from being placed on the rack directly. Hopped into onshape and designed a little holder for them. Gonna see how long it takes her to realize that I did this.

My daughter asked me to print a Honu for her, so I took the opportunity to buy some blue and green silk PLA. Turned out pretty well, though my printer definitely needs to be tuned for this PLA. Supports were a dodint to remove, and it's not as smooth as my other stuff.

My wife keeps misplacing the attachments for her Bissell steam mop, so I designed a holder for them that can be mounted directly onto the handlebar. The fit is snug, so I don't even need that M3 bolt that I thought I would.

Saw a pretty neat design on Thingiverse, so I bought some marble PLA and printed out this modern geometric planter for a small succulent for my wife's office.
To give you an idea of the final product, it'll look something like this (once my wife picks out what she wants to put in it):

With 3D modeling, you can pretty much make anything. I’ve seen sword holders before, so I know it can be done.

I bit the bullet and bought a much more advanced 3D printer this morning. The good news is that I know what I can do with old one:

New printer is up and running, and man, the difference in quality between this one and the old one is night and day.

The webcam in this new printer is criminally bad, but speed at which it can print and quality is amazing. My daughter asked me to print her cat, so I found a generic cat model and painted it, then used the multi-color print feature of this printer to print it out.

Wow, so those things can paint and print at the same time? That's cool as hell. I can't wait to come up with something for you to print for me

It’s all printing. The printer swaps filament constantly so that it only uses the black filament for the areas that I “painted” in the slicer application, and uses white for the base. It’s cool as hell, but also absurdly slow. This would have been a 1 hour print in one color, but was a little under 6 hours for two. And it’s tiny.Wow, so those things can paint and print at the same time? That's cool as hell. I can't wait to come up with something for you to print for me
But that’s the appeal to Bambu printers - you can literally just click print and walk away.

Figured some of you may appreciate a short video of the actual printing process:
That's just Normal speed, which is already pretty damn fast. It has three other speeds - slow (for ultra fine detail work), Sport, and Ludicrous mode. Definitely going to print something on that last one just to see it go.

I designed a simple iPhone stand that swivels, since I really couldn't find what I wanted online. Printed out well, and everything fit nicely, including the recessed magsafe charger.

My daughter asked for an articulating shark, so I found a model and printed it in three colors. Turned out beautifully, though I probably should have printed it with smaller layer heights (oversight on my part).

Printing out a castle watchtower right now so that my daughter can display the articulated dragons that I printed for her. Should be pretty cool once done. Something like 16 hours of total print time.

Which printer did you buy, and any thoughts on this one?I bit the bullet and bought a much more advanced 3D printer this morning. The good news is that I know what I can do with old one:
I'm looking for a middle of the road 3D printer to see if this is something I want to do as a hobby. Don't want to go too basic in case it's something I like and would need to upgrade, but I don't want to go too advanced just yet. I also like it's being featured as a "silent" printer since I have somebody on the other side of the wall of the townhouse.
