I’d have preferred Mitchell out of Toldedo, but this is a safer and smarter pick, imo.

It's never a bad pick to get a high quality offensive lineman

this is good pick. not worried about WRs. wasnt a first round need for this team

I think I love this pick. Stud OL with position flexibility and great athleticism, but excelled at the tackle position. All the centers are still on the board. WR might be a bit of a challenge if they wait til R3 or beyond, but they do seem to be able to find diamonds.
A little frustrating that they passed on a top CB, but I don't think any of them are 'can't miss' types of guys. They may have someone in mind for a later round that they like.
Wouldn't be shocked if they trade up to pluck one of the C tonight.
If they do, I also wouldn't be shocked if Arthur Smith stays up for 5 straight days daydreaming of special Justin Fields packages to throw at defenses.

I think 2nd round has to be one of the Centers. 3rd is CB or WR depending on big board rankings. Day 3 needs DL and ILB depth, with the hope that one of them hits and becomes an impact player. It's been too long since we hit on an Aaron Smith or Larry Foote.

Should probably panic draft a QB next.

Listening to the Drive podcast, one of the tackles dropping was a best case scenario. They've been making the case that a C in round 1 never makes sense because the 5th year option gets calculated for OL all-together, so they would automatically become one of the highest paid centers if you choose to do that (Ravens will have this problem with Linderbaum).
Their line has stayed uncommonly intact the last couple of years health wise. So the idea that you just set it and forget it is not a thing. So the hole at C right now is pretty meaningless. I would just expect a lot of moving pieces in the interior throughout the season as they figure that out, but between the three guys they have at OT, that is a set it and forget it indefinitely.
A good ILB has become rarer every year. So getting Queen is just a gift really. That's a position that draftees take years to learn, so it's better to just let them develop somewhere else and pay in FA.
Shouldn't be that much of an issue getting another CB, and if they go C, WR, they could just bring back Peterson to be the slot corner.
Defensive line is also just going to be a need every year. Bodies will come and go. Just need to cross our fingers that Heyward has one more productive year.

For WR, there's Coleman, McConkey, and Mitchell. If any of those drop to the Steelers at 51, I have to imagine they snag 'em. If not, it'll likely be a C.

There’s some receivers that could slip to 84. Roman Wilson, Malachi Corley, Jalen McMillen, and Devontez Walker for example.

Nice. Wonder what a once competent QB will be able to do behind a halfway decent OL.

At least he's not from Pitt. Tomlin had to drive at least 45 minutes to scout him.
