Good on-track action from P2 down, but holy god...... the penalty canon. lol

Did Hulk actually get a track limits penalty after he retired?
It’s crazy that the FIA can give penalties after the race for track limits. If the drivers aren’t warned don’t know , how the hell are they supposed to stop? They just need to make the red and whites the limits. At least the can feel with the are off of them

I had a tire delaminate under braking yesterday. *flapflapflapflapflap*



That's my first time running my full home course in the new build. I'm now hitting over 120mph going into that braking zone. Feels good.

According to Autosport, there were 1,200+ track limits incidents - all of which were between T9 and T10 - flagged to the stewards by the sensors or whatever tech they use to monitor that stuff, plus all the incessant griping the drivers were blasting back to the pitwall. That's more than 17 incidents per lap for the distance, which considering there were only 20 entrants, means almost every driver was flagged every lap for investigation.

It ended up with over 80 actual violations noted, between warning and actual time penalties assessed. It took them 5 hours to finalize the results. Ocon's time penalties amounted to almost half a lap's worth of track position at the flag. And remember: You didn't get an actual penalty until after your fourth warning.

On the one hand this is what you get when you issue a zero tolerance policy. On the other, this is probably the easiest foul to avoid for the drivers, and yet......

Also, Max Verstappen overtook Leclerc in the sprint race and his teammate Perez in the full GP. Those were his first on-track overtakes for position in nearly two full months.

Sainz ran an extremely intelligent race. He’s very measured and mature. Leclerc is definitely faster (although this year he hates this understeery car) but I don’t think he thinks the way Carlos does. Leclerc is still young so hopefully he puts it all together

I see that the FIA has approved the Andretti F1 application, although approval is still needed from Formula One Management. But given that Formula One Management is owned by Liberty Media—a US company—and FOM clearly wants the US market with three US races this year, I should think that they'd want a well-recognized name like Andretti in the sport, especially as Andretti is proposing to use Cadillac-badged Honda engines.

Speaking of Honda, I wonder what the plan is for Lance Stroll when Aston becomes a works Honda team in 2026. While there certainly have been worse F1 drivers, it's clear that Stroll can't hold a candle to Alonso and is way slow in what has proven to be a pretty good car this year. Will Honda be happy with "team owner's son" perpetually underperforming in their works car?

Props to Osteban Ocon for yesterday's performance. He barfed in his helmet around lap 16 due to the extreme heat and humidity and carried on to finish seventh.

It's still a week out, but the current weather forecasts for Vegas next weekend are for low temps to drop into the 40s, and they're expecting rain overnight on Friday. And did I see this right.... there are no support races on the calendar? So it's going to be cold, and the track will be a skating rink. That ought to be a hoot. Did no one tell them Vegas gets cold this time of year.

As the event has drawn near, local enthusiasm has waned considerably. All of the first year growing pains are really driving people mad, and several businesses in the immediate area of the circuit are facing financial hardship over the loss of revenue due to street closures/traffic reroutes.
