Pho and ramen are both definitely soups, and they are called as much by Vietnamese and Japanese people, respectively.

My old regular pho place in Hawthorne was run by a guy who remembered all of his customers, like in a Rain Man way; he remembered everyone. When I'd come in, he'd be like "Back for soup?" and bring my pho dac biet.

Same. I don't want all that boiling hot liquid. I made something in three minutes so I could eat it within the next three hours without my face melting...

If I go to a Ramen place, then yes, I will eat the meal...but not at home certainly...
