Hockey players and sandals...good grief. Everyone except Schultz was wearing flip flops at the parade. My back would be wrecked walking more than 100 feet.

Take it to the unpopular opinions thread...sandals are a way of life...get a quality pair, don't spend $5 on a piece of cardboard to support your body weight...

This is pretty much me verbatim. 1/2 acre yard, and I used to be sweating my ass off getting it done. Getting a riding mower was the best thing I've ever done.I have one for my 1/2 acre and it's wonderful. Use to take me 1.5 hours to do everything (weed eater, and leaf blow, too). Now it takes me forty minutes.

This frustrates the hell out of me. You might even say that it grinds my gears.it still amazes me when people intentionally under perform on a given task to have said task removed from their duties

I'm confused as to what these last few pages have to do with jobs/employment, but curious to understand.
Might have missed the meaning while I was doing actual work.

I called a candidate that had applied to a recruiter job we have open yesterday, and left a voicemail. He called me back and left a voicemail, but I was on other calls and wouldn't be able to call him until late yesterday afternoon. In the ensuing three hours, I saw six more missed calls from him, as well as another voicemail from him stating that he was sitting beside his phone waiting for my call.
At this point, I am inclined to not proceed with his candidacy. To me, that represents egregiously poor judgment on his part. And as a recruiter, he should 100% know better than to come off as so incredibly desperate. His resume indicates he's been unemployed since the end of April. I get if you are desperate in private, but conveying that to a potential employer when you should know better raises serious red flags for me.

Yeah, **** that guy. Go back through your records and find someone you couldn't reach and bother them some more. The cold shoulder they gave you just means they're really the best candidate.

That behavior indicates that he lacks self control. I would not hire him.

Yup. That's a red flag for me. It's poor judgment, it's poor common sense, and it is extraordinarily poor in the view of normal social constructs...That behavior indicates that he lacks self control. I would not hire him.

The call back and message is fine. If it gets to being a few hours and he has errands to run, I wouldn't even blink at an additional call and saying he's away and he'd be available to talk between X and Y time. The multitude of calls and a message saying he's waiting by the phone? Pass.

The missed calls thing is the part where I feel like the overreaction is happening. They're missed calls, big deal. He's just trying to catch you in the office, maybe you had a meeting or something. For years I worked in an office environment that didn't have caller ID. Picking up the phone every half hour to catch someone was normal procedure. You act like he left you six 30 minute long sobbing voicemails.

At least give him a conversation.

At the very least, I view somebody leaving a voicemail as a positive. **** those people who call multiple times and never leave a voicemail. Those people are the worst.

At the very least, his resume was enough to warrant a conversation... have the conversation with him.

I was not exaggerating. He left me a voicemail around 11 AM yesterday. Between 11 AM and 3 PM yesterday, he tried calling me five more times. I have the email record of every missed call. Then at 4:15 PM, he left another voicemail saying "I got my phone next to me and I'm waiting on your call".
I admire enthusiasm on the part of a candidate, but this turns me off in a big way from a recruitment side. I think it does indicate a lack of social self-awareness/self-control, and recruiters have to have excellent social skills to be effective. Is he going to be that aggressive recruiting potential candidates for his jobs? That's what I wonder and worry about. Recruiters should be assertive, but not aggressive and desperate.
Finally, I called four other recruiter candidates. I spoke with three, and left a voicemail for one. He called me back yesterday and left *one* voicemail. Novel concept.

If I got an e-mail for every missed call I'd have my panties in a bunch too. Your work environment sounds terrible in every way. Missed call e-mails, fat salad lady, terrible management. Woof.

Seriously, the whole email for a missed call thing seems like overkill, but maybe it's a necessity because of the call volume a recruiter does.
We only ever got emails for voicemails, and it was killer because then I never had to listen, I could just read and delete.
