In a vacuum, the multiple callback attempts with no VMs would not be alarming. In conjunction with the waiting-by-the-phone message they ultimately did leave? Eek.

So this other business partner who I had a small requirement in my app has been absolutely hounding me the last two weeks. Like, I'm talking the coding change took like 5 minutes. The UX is like "if the date is expired show a message that the thing is expired". So simple.
He's asked me to demo it to 20 different people. Everyone has the same reaction... "ok, so that's it?"
Yeah. Thats it.
He wants to do another hour of UAT.
Bro. I got sht to do.

Write a separate version just for him and randomize the button clicks so that every once in a while a different message appears, driving him nuts.

And have it automatically change back to the correct message after five seconds.

I am working with the president of one of the divisions of our company on a confidential search. He is one of those people where, if you ask him four or five crucial questions, he will respond with the answer to one. It's maddening.

So why not send 5 separate emails disguised as follow up questions?

No doubt. However, this is an opportunity to get your name known by the brass.

In addition to my insane workload, I have been picked as "the go-to guy" by most of the executive team, who have thankfully spoken highly of me to our new director. The praise is nice, but the pressure is immense when I'm already trying to get other stuff done.No doubt. However, this is an opportunity to get your name known by the brass.

Understood. My boss's boss knows me and what I do. I'd prefer that it (i.e. me) isn't known any further up on the food chain. In addition to my insane workload, I have been picked as "the go-to guy" by most of the executive team, who have thankfully spoken highly of me to our new director. I'm going through stuff from my previous job while cleaning out my PC and come across a folder with some custom scripts that I wrote ages ago to monitor our print clusters. Despite Microsoft's assurance, I discovered [the hard way] that there used to be a hard limit on the size of your CLUSDB file on Microsoft Clusters. This limit prevents you from failing over from one node to another, or joining any new nodes to the cluster.
The issue was so bad that Microsoft was forced to create a new KB article for it, referencing all of my findings. Good times, they were.

Today starts summer hours (for everyone who is not waiting for a final marketing asset approval...). Lady that sits back and to the left right of me packed up and was starting to walk away from her desk. In-house printer vendor tech is standing there, "Oh are you [name]? Did you report problems with your printer?"
15 minutes later, they're both still there and he's on the phone with another tech.
I don't know what's wore, that the printer dope just kept moving along with the repair, or that the lady didn't just up and leave. (Her computer is shutdown, it's not like she needs to be here)

Annnnnnd I just found out the person I was waiting on for assets has left for the weekend. Stayed an hour and twenty minutes after quittin' time, and she didn't even have the courtesy to swing by and say, "Hey, my schedule got loaded in a hurry. We'll circle up next week." She just.... left.

Three weeks ago, our new SVP of HR brought in someone she used to work with to serve as the VP of Talent Management, who is now our new boss (even though our previous Recruitment manager is still on the team, just in the system as reporting to him now....awkward). I've been a little unsure about him the first couple of weeks...he seems cocky, and I just had this feeling something was off.
Fast forward to Monday. All of a sudden, half of the Recruiting team is reaching out to me because they suddenly have no access to any of their normal functionality in our ATS platform. It turns out that on Friday, our new boss was poking around our ATS and checking out the user settings. He noticed that all of the recruiters had "Admin" access in the system. New boss decided that he was "very concerned" that so many of us had Admin access, and arbitrarily decided to go in and start changing user/security settings without asking ANYONE why they were set that way. He has never seen this ATS platform before, and has no idea how we operate in there, but he still thought he knew enough to unilaterally change our access and cripple the system for 36 hours at the start of last week.
This, to me, displays staggering arrogance for someone just coming into the firm. I can't even fathom doing something that bold, without fear of F'ing something up and facing consequences. To top it off, he then called me yesterday, and dressed me down because I went into the system on Monday and was adjusting settings trying to get things back to normal. According to him, I needed to report this issue to him first. Halfway through the call he suddenly interjects "I'm not wanting to micromanage", but the rest of the call and his behavior thus far suggests just that. It seems like he's come in with the "new sheriff in town" vibe and is swinging his D around everywhere.

I mean really...who does that?! Welp, I don't like the way these settings are even though I have no idea how the system is set up, time to start changing user rights. The Senior HRIS analyst was floored.

That's some effed up ****...I'd look elsewhere.
I get that people want to crate their stamp on organizational culture and processes, but this person seems like a doofus.

He seems like the kind of guy that would cause trouble for a lot of people, and possibly cause irreversible damage through his combination of arrogance and incompetence.
Perhaps you'll vote for him for president in 2020.
