Three different briefs due by the end of next week. I'm not only going to be in on Monday, I may be at work on the 4th.

Monday is one of my teleworking days so at least I won't have to go back into the city till Wednesday.

Absolutely. At my new job, I "only" get 16 days a year (used to have 24), so I want to save every hour I can get. I already take very small liberties here and there (i.e. working from home if I have an appointment, etc). Monday is a mail-in day, no way I'm taking off.Monday is one of those days that I'd rather go in for a few hours and save my time, since I use a hell of a lot of vacation time every year.

We have a company holiday on the 3rd (and 4th).

This is the first place I've worked where Black Friday is a company holiday. That's nice.

Leaving around noon, but will be running CAT5e in my attic this afternoon, so today will kinda suck.

Day 5 of a six day weekend. Summer is always super chill at work, so starting things right.

Yup, paid. She also gets the week between Christmas and New Years off (as do I, paid). So between those two 'free' weeks, plus her regular PTO accrual from being at the company for 9 years, she has about 5 weeks of PTO a year. Plus, she's allowed to work from home at least one day a week, which - let's face it - is basically a day off, too.is this paid time off or no?Mrs Tif is off all next week, company-wide shutdown every year.
Conversely, as a relatively new hire at my job, I still don't yet have two full weeks accrued. So that time off imbalance kind of sucks, because we can't really take advantage of it.

an opening in another division for a more senior relationship manager position opened up under a gentleman ive networked with before. in my opinion im extremely well qualified for it - id know - i work with and travel with his team often. some are great, some id run circles around on day 1.
he told my manager (who he is friends with outside of work) that he wants at least 20 years of experience in whoever he hires. while i can appreciate that they dont want to send a kid to deal with the chief investment officer of a pension or a state treasurer, there is no question that im qualified.
i send this guy an email when the position opened up telling him I would be applying. I havent heard back. My boss told me last week to expect a call from him, but that hasnt happened yet. My boss is defintely going to challenge him and is going to his boss, one of our most senior relationship people who he also has a long personal friendship with.
I need to figure out what to say to a) get an interview (I hope as a professional courtesy that he would at least do that) and b) force him to hire me. His counterpart out of Boston is coming into our office week after next and said she wants to finally meet me.
But on the flip side, while that is playing out I have senior mgmt in my division trying to come up with more responsibility for me because they don't want to lose me. They've been talking about restructuring the relationship mgmt and business development wing of our division, so I'm hoping I get to pick my spot.

The entire 5e spool was free, and I have no use for 10GB throughput at home, given that not a single device I own has a network card capable of that speed. No CAT6? Weak.Leaving around noon, but will be running CAT5e in my attic this afternoon, so today will kinda suck.

If I ever get to the point of requiring new wiring, it'll be a piece of cake just connecting the new wiring to the old and pulling it through. Though, I doubt that day ever comes. These runs are all going to be for my TiVos in the other rooms, with one going to my wife's laptop.Only reason I used CAT6 was 'cause it was free. The entire 5e spool was free, and I have no use for 10GB throughput at home, given that not a single device I own has a network card capable of that speed. No CAT6? Just got the daily report... 1/3 of the company took today off.

I got here 20 mins later than usual, and even though the one main parking lot was shut down for repairs, I still managed an extremely close parking spot. My group has about 4/10 here.

Today was as great as advertised. Left at 1:45, got about 10 emails all day, only two of which warranted a response. No way I would ever waste 8 hours of PTO on a day like that.

I don't recommend running ethernet in the attic in the middle of summer. Pretty sure I lost about 5 lbs. in sweat, and glad for it to be over, but man did that suck.Only reason I used CAT6 was 'cause it was free. The entire 5e spool was free, and I have no use for 10GB throughput at home, given that not a single device I own has a network card capable of that speed. No CAT6? I ran mine through the basement, but I know that pain all too well. When I first started in my field (back in '08) I helped pull 5000' of wire through the roof of an Alzheimer's Care home. it still amazes me when people intentionally under perform on a given task to have said task removed from their duties
