My wife quit taking birth control a few months ago when her script ran out. We were both like, well if it happens it happens. So a few months go by and she isn't really having the time of the month. Goes to the doctor and they say that she just needs jumpstarted so they give her some hormones or something which she started taking last week. And
HOOOOOOOOOOO BUDDDY THEY'RE WORKING
She's been ripping my face off every time I open my mouth this past week.

Anyone ever do Mario's 6.6k? My wife is hinting at wanting to do it and I'm trying to get excited for the idea of it. I'm generally not a fan of really big events like that. So much standing around and waiting and congestion and no room to run. I told her I was looking at a fall race I could start training for and this is what she came back with. I was just looking for a Turkey Trot or something.
How is the course? I hate hills (yeah, I know).

So, yeah, I failed. I went from around 300 down to 278, and have bounced back up to 298 or so as of two weeks ago. Net loss of 2.2lbs after 7 months. Yay.I lost 20, gained 10, and have been hovering at 290 for a long while. Now that I'm moved and settled and everything is done and I live alone I'm going full throttle trying to lose as much weight as I can between now and when the wife moves back in May. Haven't set a real goal yet but I hope to be well under the lowest weight I achieve in Wisconsin. Roughly trying to lose 50lbs between now and Memorial Day, which would get me in the 240s.
Started back up again two weeks ago. Now that I'm actually completely settled in my permanent house I've started running again. Running isn't a weight loss solution; however, I find that when I'm in a running program I also stick to my food plan much better as well. Going to reboot and try again. Instead of shooting for 2.5 to 3lbs of loss a week I'm going to set my daily calorie goal higher and shoot for a 1 to 1.5lb a week loss. Basically doing intake that is more like what I would do when I'm finished losing weight, rather than having a radical plan for loss and then transitioning to a lifestyle change at the end. I've obviously never been successful with that last part.
10 years ago I could lose 3-5lbs a week eating 1200-1500 calories. Now my goal is at 1900 calories and I'd be really happy to consistently lose that 1.5 moving forward.

Losing more than 2lbs a week isn't really sustainable unless you are realllllllly big. When I was 385 I could lose that easily just because I was a big mofo. I would say at your weight... 2lbs is pushing it.. 1 to 1.5lbs a week is much more sustainable long term IMO and I think you are smart aiming for that right now.So, yeah, I failed. Either way good luck! I'm like 182ish right now and I can maintain not gain at 2100ish calories a day. If I was still trying to lose right now I would probably aim for like a half pound a week which would put me right around 1850 to 1900 calories a day .. anything less than that and I would be hangry alot of the time haha.

Thanks, yeah. I realized that I'm not in a real hurry for anything other than vanity (and general health concerns), so I'm going to give this a go and see what happens. If I had stuck to my original plan, though, I'd be down to 220 which would feel great right about now.Source of the post 1 to 1.5lbs a week is much more sustainable long term IMO and I think you are smart aiming for that right now.
Either way good luck!
I'm heavy into data for this kind of thing. I've mentioned before that I have a weight tracking spreadsheet that has weight data that is more/less continuous back to 2005. I've modernized some of the apps that I use and linked them together. Now when I run my Garmin account talks to my MyFitnessPal (calorie counter, for me) and records the cardio for me. The last step is I need to buy a smart scale that would record my biological data and sync up with MyFitnessPal and then everything will be automated and the parameters those scales record is pretty amazing. BF%, water levels, bone density, etc.
I'm also back into doing my weight training routine. It's mostly vanity now that I don't do pull-ups for a living anymore.

Seriously though, I track by calorie intake on MyFitnessPal. It's pretty good. Keeps me from overeating.

Yeah, MFP is fantastic. I used to use Livestrong MyPlate but they stopped dev'ing it when Lance fell from grace.

MFP has been my main tool. I still use it, even if I don't track as strict as I used to. 650+ days in a row on that app. It keeps me accountable and motivated. I think my username on there is MalkinMagic71 if you want to add or whatever haha.

Good luck dodint. I know this isn't comparable, but even at 210 (my heaviest) I felt like I would never get the weight off. So I know how daunting it is.
I'm actually the lightest I've been probably since the military (162). More calorie-related than exercise-related. I am out of shape.

One of the attorneys in my department did the Ironman triathlon in Sonoma this weekend. He has a bike with electric gear changing, and he didn't check it out when he dropped the bike off in the transition area. When he got out of the water on race day, he realized the battery was faulty/dead. So he was stuck doing the bike portion - through hilly wine country - in the second highest gear ratio. He said he thought about up and quitting on the spot, but then he set off and decided that since he wasn't going to be setting any records he'd act as a sort of roving pit crew. So he stopped and helped like fifteen or sixteen riders on the route. He ultimately completely the event under the cutoff time (17 hours?), but he's kinda salty about it today.

I need to run at some point this week just to mentally remind myself that I can do a 5k before Saturday morning. Blah. 15-20 miles on the bike every day.. no big deal. Running at all though.. mentally I just hate it for some reason.
