Real curious to see where the Canes go from here. Looked like Freddie lost them this series - bad goals allowed in every game he started.

That team is still deep, and while they actually had some more scoring talent around this year, you gotta assume Jake is gone in FA. A slight upgrade in net and more natural scorers will help, but I wonder if they do something more drastic given their general lack of playoff success recently.

Easy to say in retrospect, but if Kochetkov starts game 6, the Canes win the series. That's the best roster in the league and they skated circles around the Rangers at even strength for most of the series...

This isn't like the Leafs who are top heavy and have a horrible defense (which is now all defensive guys basically) and no goalie. I don't think there's a better roster in the NHL than what Carolina put out. And Freddy as a backup/1B would be fine. But if you can turn to him in the middle of the series, you can turn to him after Andy gave up bad goal in game 5 too. He's out of position on the first goal in game 6, he gives up a bad goal early in the 3rd...pull him then. Panic. Who cares? You were down 3-0. You can't just status quo your way through it...Andy didn't have it last night.

Agreed on the goaltending. But they just don't have that go to gamebreaker like pasta, kreider, Tkachuk, point... the guy who's gonna bury one when you need it most.

It's by committee. Top to bottom best roster no doubt, but you gotta have that go to guy. They don't have it in their forward group nor do they have it on the blueline.

Svech can still get there I think. Slavin is a great #1 in this league but he's not that guy either... burns used to be but he's old now.

Would've been nice for Jake or Jordan to bury either of their chances, yeah. Jake's hit the pipe solid, struck the goalie in the back, and somehow leaked wide of the cage. Shame.

IMO Jake is that guy. They needed a save more than anything.
