Stupid. You think people liked the name “Golden Knights?” Of course not but when Foley couldn’t use “Knights” some idiot blurted out “Golden Knights” so we went with it.

To be fair their basketball team name is comically mismatched because of a lack of creativity after a move. Maybe give them space to get it right.

From the opening sequence to "Baseketball":

"The Minneapolis Lakers moved to Los Angeles, where there are no lakes. The Oilers moved to Tennessee, where there is no oil. The Jazz moved to Salt Lake City, where they don't allow music. The Oakland Raiders moved to LA and then back to Oakland. No one in Los Angeles seemed to notice."

I'm struggling to understand the exact situation here.

So the Utah franchise is an entirely new franchise that has no historical ties to the Jets/Coyotes, other than the fact that they're made up entirely of what were previously not their assets, but yet they're not an "expansion" team?

And the Jets/Coyotes may be revived in 5 years but of an entirely new set of assets?

That's about the size of it, I believe.

So they're just not going to collect the $1B expansion fee? I understand they're getting $200M in the change of ownership but still

It's the hockey version of the Browns and Ravens. The team moved to Baltimore but the history stayed in Cleveland while waiting for operations to resume. My guess is we'll see another round of expansion (Arizona and probably Houston), I just don't see how anyone would be okay with Meruelo continuing to own a franchise that he helped finish digging the grave for.

Meruelo needs to pay the $1B back to the league to reactivate the franchise.

Bigtime. I was smoking my opponent through Sunday when it should have ended. Then he came back because he had good players on non-playoff teams and all my guys were resting.
