The HF meltdown is warming my soul. Apparently Sundqvist is the second coming of Christ and my eyes have been deceiving me all this time.

Sundqvist is low grade dog food

I don't even care about Sundqvist.
I do care that, for some reason, Rutherford thought a 4th liner with a 20 IQ was a good idea to trade for.

I'm good with the trade. Reaves was one of their go-to guys for energy. He can actually play, and is very physical - something Rutherford repeatedly said he wanted not even two weeks ago. Our first round pick might as well be a second rounder.

Lehtera's production is nowhere near his contract value (just shy of $5 million). I agree with you at first glance, but Lehtera stinks. That seems like a lot for Brayden Schenn.

Lehtera is a whole lotta meh, but his contract was shorter and they got two firsts out of it. I prefer the Holmgren-run Flyers who traded youth for garbage.

Frank Seravalli is EVP, and Rob Rossi is the Eastern Conference Representative. Let that sink in for a moment.

One of the Flyers newest draft picks had to delete a bunch of tweets:

I'm hoping that he's enough of a loser to take a bloated offer and stay there.

Don Cherry's thoughts on the 2017 draft...this is not satire, straight from his Twitter:
MVP of the Stanley Cup was a Canadian, two top goalies (Fleury, Murray) in the playoffs were Canadian,
MVP of the season was a Canadian, scoring champ was a Canadian, most goals a Canadian, most assists
Canadian, Ted Lindsay award Canadian, best defenceman Canadian, I could go on but we all know we
are the best. I’ve got to admit though after reading, listening and watching the draft I would never have
guessed we’re the best. We just love those foreigners. First round 11 Canadians were picked. Strange,
Toronto coach Mike Babcock says guys from Ontario play harder in Toronto and that is so true because
of family and friends watching but yet 4 of the 5 first Leafs picks never mind born in Ontario, they were
born in another country. Of the 7 Canadian teams only Ottawa drafted a Canadian in the first round.

Did any American actually care that the two coaches in the finals are American? No. But it was a hot topic in Canada. Possibly the most xenophobic nation on the planet. Horrible inferiority complex nation wide.

Talked to my boss today (his step daughter is dating James Neal), and he said that leaving Nashville was far easier on him than leaving Pittsburgh. This whole story is through rose colored glasses on Neal, so keep that in mind:
Apparently while in Pittsburgh, Neal was very nervous about being dealt as he really enjoyed playing there. Someone related to him (his sister maybe?) is/was dating Mario's son. Apparently they were all good buddies and would go golfing together and Mario assured him that they weren't looking to deal him. Then Rutherford showed up and he (Neal) was at a Penguin's player's wedding and got a call from Rutherford that was: "Is this James Neal?" "Yes" "This is Jim Rutherford, you've been traded to Nashville. *click*" He was devastated.
Fast forward to the expansion draft. Apparently Laviolette called up Neal and told him that they tried and tried to work things out to protect him and keep him in Nashville, but at the end of the day, the thing that made the most sense to the team and organization was to expose him to the draft. Again, he wasn't happy about it, but understood.
Once again, this is coming from Neal's side of the story. Who knows how things actually went down.

The wedding part of that story was pretty well known at the time, could probably dig up the tweets if we wanted. The part about Mario personally reassuring him ahead of that is news to me.

Like I said, take it for what it's worth. This is Neal's girlfriend's step-dad, who by the way really really likes Neal, so of course he comes out as being incredible in every story about him.
