With an allowance for elite players being allowed to petition for a waiver, it would make much more sense for the draft age to be 20 or even 21. Trying to assess the future of a kid 3 years removed from the 9th grade is just stupid.

Antti Niemi on waivers from Dallas for purposes of a buyout...they re-signed Esa Lindell, 2 yrs, $2.2 mil per...

Andrej Sustr got 1 yr, just under a deuce from Tampa...who I am surprised got a contract at all, much less a raise...not too keen on him...

Yeah, in both fields...more than I would have done...though, in Ottawa, any goalie can play there...so maybe the thought is is that he's gonna be their sneaky starter when Andy hangs them up...? I don't know...I don't love it...
