Victor Campenaerts (Belgium, Lotto-Soudal rider) just set new UCI Hour Record - he became the first person ever to beat 55km.
His 55.089 beat the 54.526km record of Bradley Wiggins set in 2015 in London by 563 meters.
BTW, that's apparently 440+ Watts sustained for the whole one hour!

34 mph, impressive. Not sure I could sustain that going downhill for an hour

Super interesting mountain stage at Tour de France going on right now. Julian Alaphilippe who held the Yellow Jersey most of the Tour is in big troubles.
There is actually freakin SNOW on the road!
Last hill to go - on NBCSN...

I’m having trouble teaching my daughter to ride on 2 wheels and would like recreational cyclists to get f’d in the b.
I think I’m in the wrong thread

i have respect for people who do it for transportation, and if you're on an appropriate road, have at it in your little outfit.
but stay away from rush hour traffic, windy and/or thin roads and highways of any kind, ya dinguses

We have a Strider. It lasted thru two kids so I’d recommend it.

One of the most amazing ends in the history of Tour de France:
Two Slovenians (! - never happened before, that tiny country is not known for cycling excellence) battle for the overall victory. The older one (Roglic) looks stronger going into the final mountain time trial, and has a significant lead of almost one minute in overall standings. He is also an excellent climber and time-trialist.
The younger one (Pogacar) - still beats him by almost 2 minutes, riding the one-hour race (the last 6km had a 8.5% average slope!) at nearly 39 KPH! (The second fastest racer was 1:20 minutes slower), thus grabbing the TdF lead (and 99.9% likely the overall victory) at the last possible moment...

Sprinters are the most crazy athletes out there:
August 2020:
Result:
- coma
- 5-hour brain surgery
- series of reconstructive facial surgeries
LESS THAN ONE YEAR LATER, today!!!:
(and, BTW, the guy who caused the crash last year - Dylan Groenewegen - won the yesterday's stage of the same race)

Saw I was mentioned in the cycling thread, expected RAD content, was not disappointed. That baby is slick. Excellent write-up too. Let's walk this sucker.

Anyone have any experience with electric bikes?
I have a sub 5 mile commute to work. Lots of hills though... like pretty steep ones. I'm starting to think about getting an e-bike for nice weather commutes. Looking for pros, cons, etc. I could get my bike tuned up and actually ride, but I'd rather not show up to work covered in sweat.
