I had only one kid that needed braces, fortunately. $5000 plus a couple of teeth pulled from a dental surgeon. Fun times!

mini meow gets his braces off at his next visit. he needs two rounds of them. one to widen his palette and then a second one a few years down the line to realign everything once all adult teeth are in.
check with your dental insurance, but ours had a lifetime allowance for orthodontic work and we ended up only having to pay like $37 out of pocket. we plan to flip him to mrs meow’s dental for the second round

We have really good dental coverage through Delta, but I'll be checking once we have the initial consultation.

Oof, or not. 50% coverage on ortho, with a lifetime max of $2k. Woof.

Yeah, we were in that boat. The dental surgery was covered (as was my older son's wisdom teeth removal), but bupkis on the braces. They even have the top tier Dental Plus insurance through BCBS. Purely cosmetic, they say.

@nocera is going to be so upset with you.

She leaves her shoes clipped into the pedals cause they're hard to get in and out and he likes to mess around and try and pedal. (it's an echelon bike). I'm guessing he slipped and the pedals kept going forward. Fracture on the inside bone of his tibia. It doesn't look horrible on the X rays but we'll be heading to children's orthopedics for a hard cast hopefully tomorrow.Damn sorry to hear that. He's been warned twice to not do it. Lesson learned I guess. I also told her she should crank the resistance down when she's done but that's not always something I'd remember to do either.

Am I gonna be judged for this. I feel like I am. Lol

I'm a non-parent who reads this thread out of a sort of morbid curiosity, but I wouldn't judge. Kids do stupid stuff and break things. That's what makes them kids. At least they heal quickly.

Yeah. I was on a call for work actually when it happened. He was in that room building Legos as there's a better spot to sit at a desk and he can get away from little brother, who isn't allowed to be around Lego building yet. Ironically enough had little brother not been home today too, that's the desk I'd have been sitting at. I'm just saying, I feel like I get judged every time I make a parenting post ITT lol

Good luck to little mac for a quick recovery, that sounds really painful. How long does he have to be immobile?
5AF Parenting Thread
We have to call children's orthopedics tomorrow. The break is on the inside of his right leg. It's about an inch or so? It doesn't seem like a bad crack, you can barely see it on the X ray. Not sure if a byproduct of the X ray quality or what

Ordered lil mac a knee walker and hoping he can figure it out this weekend to get back to school on Monday. Hard cast for 4 weeks, non weight bearing. And then likely a boot for 2-3 after that. Gonna be a fun fun January, considering I literally moved him into a loft bed the week before Christmas too

No you get judged when you bring poop out in public dining rooms lol
Hope he's OK. Did the pedal just wack his leg? Or did he twist it during the fall?

Honestly not sure, by the time I got in there he was on the ground. I think his foot got twisted downward and then the pedal kept going. No you get judged when you bring poop out in public dining rooms lol

Sign you might be raising a redneck kid: he's doing his homework, circling objects that begin with a D... And refuses to circle the deer because "it's a buck dad not a doe"
