I think that's cool, actually, and acknowledges the unprecedented nature of their season. What a blast it would be to attend.
This is something that’s perfectly acceptable for Vegas and would be relentlessly mocked if it were Washington.

Well, Washington has been in the league since 1974. :)

I'm not as angry as I thought I was today when I finally allowed myself to see some photos. It just....doesnt look right. Those jerseys skating around the ice, that guy (ovi) walking around with THAT trophy. Their identity has been so much the complete and total opposite since I was born, it really looks odd. I can't explain it any other way really.

Not to take this into some political territory, but seriously - I don't think there is any fallout anywhere of the Pens going to the WH other than a few people who have CNN on 24/7... I mean it just wasn't a big deal to most normal people one way or the other even in Pittsburgh. Most people have jobs, lives, kids, money to make... they don't care if sports athletes - certainly not NHL ones - go to the white house after a championship unless they are one of those "Politics all the time in everything 24/7".

I guess Devante Smith Pelly was the Caps version of Brian Rust.

The one stat I think is the craziest is that in the last 16 seasons, we have had 16 unique Stanley Cup Final losers. That is remarkable and a testament to how much parity is in this league. Love the unpredictable nature of this sport.

On a side note, Neal is on the losing team two years in a row. Heh.

I was going to say I always enjoy seeing anyone lift the cup, since you're witnessing the peak of their life. But then I remembered Claude lemieux.

Not an original thought I'm sure, but my guess is that the Caps are going to have one hell of a Cup hangover.

I'm thinking a literal hangover. I don't think Ovechkin has stopped doing keg stands since they won

Also, Mark Melancon had a picture with the Cup in San Francisco with Brooks Orpik. A little early for the day with the Cup, no?

I read that the Knights requested the parade not be held. I think that's a mistake, but I guess no one wants to celebrate losing.
